Opening quote is John Hurt from the film 1984, differs slightly from the quote in the book. Names in the song: Mensa - High IQ society Miller - Arthur (?) Playwrite, married Marilyn Monroe Pinter - Harold, another playwrite. This song has the same crazed feel, and paranoia as his work, especially 'The Birthday Party'. Mailer? Plath? Anyone... |

| Political correctness. The twisting of words - 'pro-life' and 'anti-choice' are superb examples. Some quality lyrics here, fairly straight forward. 'Pyrrhic' is a poetic-meter featuring two unstressed syllables, hence a 'pyrrhic victory' would be the neutering of language, of emphasis. | |

| Tying in with the entire album this about 'emptiness' and attacking consumerism. Prostitution is used as an analogy, to ignore that leaves out the real songmeaning. | |
| Manic Street Preachers – Revol Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| 'Revol' is 'Lover' backwards. The song considers the fact that these politicians/revolutionaries were indeed bad lovers, with poor personal relationships. The chorus lyrics: "Lebensraum" is German for 'living space' a concept presented in Nazi Germany. "Kulturkampf" again is German, translating as roughly 'culture struggle'. | |
