| i think the song isn't lamenting over how you're ready to accept your loved ones' deaths. rather, i think it addresses the fact that we can't control our own death and when it happens, and that it is inevitable to all of us. i think it's a song about realizing your own death and being comfortable with the fact that death is imminent and can happen at any age and place. it sounds as if the singer has done all he has in life, and is ready to face death whenever it chooses to appear. it has a joyous approach to death somewhat, as if death is the process of being liberated. also, the song brings up points about family members when he mentions the "dead leaves" and the "tree." think of it as a family tree, where our own dead relatives may be dead, but their hearts live on in the rest of the family, just as the dead leaves are alone as they have fallen down from the proverbial "family tree." | |

| alright, this song is (sadly) about both heroin and the time his ex gf visited him in the hospital he was admitted into when he had some eating disorder, so thus, the line i love you so much it makes me sick, vomitting all over hte place and watching his loved one see this. also, she keeps it pumping straight to my heart signifies how he sees the love of her as she came to visit. but the heroin part kicks in everywhere else, from beat me outa me (beat the drug addict outta him) and overdo it and have a fit (overdosing). it doesn't really matter though, not all nirvana songs have to do with drugs, kurt truly was a poet, its a shame he died, and its such a great song cuz it can be interpreted different ways by different ppl. | |

| this song's name is sappy, it's on the no alternative cd and i know this cuz i own that cd, it's a hidden track, track 19. the main theme is what jamiethomas3333 said, it's comparing god watching over us and we think things are alright, but they fuck up, to ppl watching a bug in a jar, and the bug feeling secure, until things dont go so well. comparison between god's watch over us to us watching over bugs in a jar. also, the chorus "you're in a laundry room/the clue just came to you" refers to ppl who dont have a mind to think for themselves always following the leader or the big thing that's going on, so thus, kurt's making fun of hte ppl who listen to his music and follow everything he says just cuz he's considered this great musician in mainstream rock. these ppl who follow the leader are the clothes which cling to one another in a laundry room, like these ppl clinging onto what the leader says (regardless if it's right or not). | |

absolutely fantastic song, power ballad at its best. this is up there on my fave pumpkins song list. love how he switches up teh words fool and cool in the verses, and it just rolls right off his tongue, smooth as silk. these lyrics can be interpreted individually, but i think it's mostly bout feeling awkward in the spotlight and being fool enough to almost be what everyone wants him to be, when he just wants to be himself "i just want to be me" nevertheless, anyone else could have many diff. interpretations, fantastic song though. up there on the list of fave pumpkins songs. 1. today 2. 1979 3. mayonaise 4. soma 5. thirty three 6. tonight tonight 7. disarm 8. siva 9. here is no why 10. bullet with butterfly wings/hummer |
