For me this song is about the futility in believing in an entity that doesn't exist. Someone that doesn't exist isn't going to help you and you're going to struggle waiting and trying to rely on something that was made up by men centuries ago. It's almost like in this person's last moments they think they see something and suddenly screaming, 'where the hell were you when I needed you?' I find it amusing that even if people believe this song is about God, it's still a song about someone not coming to the singers's aid in time of desperate despite many calls for help and when he does come it's basically 'too little, too late' Pretty accurate view of 'God' really if you choose to believe in him. |

I've got to say that critch48 for someone who admits that he automatically likes to peg a Christian influence onto songs it's funny to hear you call anyone who interpreted it differently closed minded. Not being religious I can still see the song being about faith. Not just Christian faith (because it's not the be all and end all of faith) but being about the person/god that you see as a rock and a ever present source of strength. |

wow someone really has a major bug up his arse about Lily Allen. I enjoy the song as it's been stated it's upbeat and happy but when you listen to the lyrics you suddenly realise what she's singing about. and yes it's exaggerated, good for you for taking that -way- too seriously. |

i know this is going to be seen as a strange interpretation but i think the girl he's singing to he got pregnant. he's talks about a light surrounding her like the 'glow' they talk about and don't be afraid something new is well a baby is a new scary experience. and he'll telling her he's there and don't be afraid cause i'm here and it's scary but you'll make it through. but that's just my opinion anyway. |

I always got the impression that this song wasn't talking just beautiful on the outside. i got the impression of slight sarcasim.. lines like: And I'd just laugh, and get away with it too I would never be at fault They'd do anything to please me, why not? All fighting for my time to be next in line So if I hurt one, I wouldn't have to make amends suggest that this person it's being sung about is taking advantage of the fact that people think she's pretty.. and the singer is saying, i'm not 'beautiful' like you, i'm beautiful like me (ie i'm a decent person) |

I can see that the song is suppose to be about loving someone so much that you'll do everything and anything for them but it's poorly worded and just comes off as being subserviant to your man and doing everything for him. be a good girl, keep thin and look good so your man looks good, cook his food, run his bath and all that crap. i see the original meaning but the one that the majority is going to see is 'girls do what your guy wants' and it disgusts me. |

in all the times i've listen to this song while i got the obvious statement that there is more to life.. i never once thought it had anything to do with god. there's more to life than god e_e I always got the impression that the song was about someone who was stuck in a rut in their life and thinking that there must be more out there than what they currently have but they can't seem to get at that and time just keeps to be passing as the person is thinking this. |
