Pulp – Disco 2000 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
IMO the best part of the song is where he says he remembers every single thing, then asks her if she remembers the small house/woodchip again, as if it's the only shared memory she might possibly remember. Sad indeed. |
Oasis – Wonderwall Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Backbeat the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is out, I'm sure you've heard it all before but you've never really had a doubt.. I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do, about you now" Pure attitude, pure character, pure swagger, pure love, pure brilliance. |
Oasis – Live Forever Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Quite simply one of the greatest ever. As Noel says, it's not a direct retort to Kurt Cobain..but it is written as a natural reaction to the "We hate ourseleves and want to die attitude of grunge" - ..."the man had everything and was miserable about it, we had fuck all and still thought waking up was the best thing in the world because who'd know where we'd end up!?" It's just a song of eternal hope, however bad you are feeling..however fucked up things are..this song offers hope to anybody. Live Forever. Im getting "Live Forever" tattooed in small writing on my shoulder in the next year. |
Nirvana – Where Did You Sleep Last Night (Lead Belly cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Every song I listion to takes on a personal slant and I try and adapt it to myself. I know very few people will agree with me here but I think Cobain is the one who betrayed the woman, or that he is angry/dissapointed in himself...as well as apathetic....just a mixture of emotions. I cheated on my girlfriend this week, the next day I went to tell her and obviously she's in tatters...I am too, im just disguted in myself and never thought i'd have my name tainted with something like that..I feel like asking her where she slept last night (knowing it was alone in her own bed...innocent)just to make me suffer more. I ask her where she'll go, but I already know where im going...im just so cold. |
The Jackson 5 – I Want You Back Lyrics | 17 years ago |
quality tune! classic! |
Oasis – Rock 'n' Roll Star Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This isn't a retrospective look at their lives pre-superstar millionaires. It was written in the first Definitley Maybe sessions along with Slide Away, they sang it at small gigs when they wern't famous and that's why Noel loves it. It was so unbelievabley cocky. It's about not being a rock and roll star, but going out and acting/feeling like you are anyway, fuck it. Oasis = untouchable. What a choon. |

The Strokes – Hard To Explain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
You know when you just look at your whole life and think "I don't know" or you just can't be bothered to even think about what you have to do next, or why you have to do it? When it's too complex to start thinking about? That's why I love the lyrics, they seem so seperated but they're all just confusion and pent up frustration at himself.. love it. |
The View – Wasted Little DJs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Good song, good band. |
The Smiths – How Soon Is Now? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
We've all felt like this and it's fanastic to have a song that openly reaches out without the hope and happy ending. Something that just acknowledges how rubbish a situation we're actually in. As already said, the worst part about being single for a pre-longed period of time is the endless advice and consolation from friends and family telling you that you'll be alright in the end and that no matter how bad you think you have it "something will come along" - well, when? The best part of the song for me in the bit where he goes to the club to find "true love" ...as if. Logically we all know that's 99% not going to happen..but when you're so down you'll try a shot in the dark everytime. "So you go and you stand on your own. And you leave on your own. And you go home, and you cry, and you want to die." We've all been there man.. I can so relate to him being told he's a nice guy and something will eventually come along and save him.. 10/10 song. |

The Stone Roses – I Wanna Be Adored Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't care what Ian Brown's explanation is, for me this song is about just wanting to be loved. Thats what fits me best and that's the way I will always view it. Rarely do you find a song that is truley "amazing" - but this is, without question. |

Girls Aloud – Love Machine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
You both need a slap. |
Athlete – Wires Lyrics | 18 years ago |
(with my interpretation, the "first night of your life" is in reference to the way the person in bed is wrapped up, just like the first night they lived) |
Athlete – Wires Lyrics | 18 years ago |
To the person who said they couldn't relate it to them because it "didn't work out that way" - I think your wrong, am I the only one who thinks this song as a sad ending? (btw, im not taking the baby interpretation, im doing the "one you love but is in hospital and could die..") If you take this interpretation, then the first verse tells you that the person in question hasn't got much chance "scared of the facts" and when he says "you would never know" - to me it's, you'd never know how much I love you or that I was here when you passed away, you never saw me arrive but I saw you go, and I was here. Hard to get across after a few pints but I hope you lot understand it! |
Bloc Party – Helicopter Lyrics | 18 years ago |
blahhran, People judge America by it's mouth piece to the world, and of course that's not the right way to go about things, but what do you expect? If Bush is the most dominant American voice on TV over here then he will form a large part of the British/European opinion of America as a whole. You tell us not to generalise Americans and patronise you, but at the end of the day, somehow, you lot managed to vote George Bush in again. It beggars believe that the majority population of any country would vote him in again after the shambles that was the first term. I know people like yourself and many others are above the patriotic American media but on the only evidence we have, it seems the majority of Americans are not and believe that Bush is the way forward, it's really unbeliavble. I don't know what weight you hold with regards to influencing other peoples opinion in your own country but let me tell you that certainly in my part of Britain there is a very strong anti-US feeling and without the blinkered media over here, it's hard to argue with it. Your leadership at the Whitehouse is taking you all for a ride. After deciding the war in Iraq was about WMD, it's now about liberating the Iraqie people...and alot of you believe it. Let me tell you, wars are NEVER fought on moral grounds, not this, not Vietnam, not WW1/WW2...non. As for the song, I don't think it's about Bush in particular, but more so the Texan-esque right-wing American life style. |
