I think the song is about the songwriter (too lazy to find the liner) gets his wishes to come true (being famous) but is being hurt by the side effects (being away from his lover). "Wish upon a star but Do you know what stars are? Balls of fire, burning up the black space Falling from the landscape Exploding in the face of God" His wish came true, but now he's starting to believe that his wish was actually a curse. His wish is blowing up in his face just as a star blows up in the face of God. "Let's get crazy, Talk about our big plans Places that you're going Places that I haven't been " Perhaps his girlfriend is going to college and he won't be able to? Perhap this is from the girlfriend's perspective and is describing the tour? "Build my walls up Concrete castle Keep this kingdom free of hassle, yeah " Obviously this is the someone building up their walls and shutting everyone else out. "Taste the saline rolling down your cheekbone Tell me that you're alone, tell me on the telephone Feel your heart it breaks within your chest now Try to get some rest now, Sleep's not coming easy for a while, child " Very obviously pointing out that the distance between them and the fact that they rarely see each other anymore is hurting them both. SIDE NOTE: I just recently discovered SoCo and purchased their North and Leaving Through The Window discs (the latter was hard to find in stores). Maybe it's because I'm late to the scene, but I definitely prefer North because, in my opinion, the music is better and the lyrics are deeper. |
