this song is so utterly easy to understand, not that there's anything wrong with that but the fact that the lyrics are utterly bland are one of the things that makes this song suck so much. the lyrics are just like those of every other pop ballad ever made. as usual britney's voice is also crap and oh my god is the arrangement such pop crap. |

i think that the song is about two loves who drifted apart. the girlfriend left to continue her life someplace else but the boy stayed where he was, "where i am". the girl though is leading a very different, but better life than the one she led before "gaudy apartment complex". while visiting her the boy sees how great her new life is "tells your new friends i am a visitor here, i am not permanent", and realizes that maybe it was a good thing that she left him. because maybe he wasn't as good as he thought. hence the "and i am finally seeing, that i was the one worth leaving" he feels so out of place in her new life, "out of context". |

i think that people try to read to much into some of elliott's songs. although many are really deep some are just beautiful love songs. which is what i think about this one. i think it's just about a relationship that gets "fucked up". |

i'm pretty sure this song is about suicide. it's really quite amazing how our dearly missed elliott can make such a uplifting song out of such a horrible topic. i was devastated when he killed himself, but not that surprised. |
