Well there is stuff in this song that would imply it might be about abortion, ("yeah, it's just a shame that they eat their own babies") but I'm not certain that's what it's about. Some of it most definately is referances to Jim Morrison's lyrics. The title of this song is taken directly from "When the Music's Over" by the Doors. I think his talking about dropping acid and killing his parents is also a reference to Jim Morrison, whom often dropped acid, and spoke of killing his parents in the lyrics of "The End". There's definately a sexual tone to this song, but also obvious talk of drugs. |

hmm, I can see how this song is about the holywood elite, and how the good looking get off easy...but really I see some social Darwinsm in this song, and I wouldn't be surprised if I'm right. Anton LaVey's philosophy, which Marilyn Manson follows, does have a bit of social Darwinism to it. My guess is it's pointing out how those with certain intrinsic qualities such as beauty are going to have a natural advantage over other people. His quote "if you live with the apes" would hint more at this song being about the natural selection going on in human society. However I also hear a bit of disgust in this song, so Marilyn Manson probably does have disgust for the natural selection that goes on where the beautiful are at an advantage. He's probably mocking holywood as well. |
