"second off, it's actually "Theme FROM Pinata", so you really should read the CD/LP inset/sleeve. but it's a love song, the first verse is of falling in love and hoping they will give him a chance. the second verse is about being shy and holding the crush secret, knowing they like him too, and wanting them to come open about it first- and/or, he's making them chase him. the third verse is using snowflakes as a metaphor for people- and while he knows there are flaws in people, he doesn't want to see them because at the moment, he's in love with everything and doesn't want to ruin that."

im glad this is one of the first Modest Mouse songs i heard, it made me interested in the band...the meaning of the song isnt too hard to figure out, pretty much the exact meaning can be found if you look up karma in a dictionary...this really is an excelent song, i love the way the military-sounding snare part fits so well with the way he sings each syllable so articulated, and the whistle adds a nice touch as well... |

tis'nt on any cds, its just a live version, and the fact that they made a song named ugly casanova and never did anything with it, makes me believe that they decided to do greater things with the name/title Ugly Casanova, i dont think there ever was a crazed fan, i think Isaac wrote each song that is said to be "Ugly Casanova's", i could be wrong though...and for the song...if you have your mind set that it is a song and not some sort of tribute to a guy who called himself that, then Isaac must have meant something by it, Ugly Casanove is an oxymoron really...and since the lyrics are a bit ambiguous makes it hard to really see what he was saying with this song...great song though, i wish i knew the words... |

yeah, this is an excelent song. as i have heard someone say before, it is insanely long for a song, but seems to never get boring between the wonderful lispy lyrics, and the equally wonderful guitar sounds...sorry i cant interpret it |

...i think this is on a live recording i have of "3rd Planet" mabe it was split to form two different songs though , the live version doesnt have most of the song, so i am guessin that is right..anyways, it isnt in the version on the cd, and is pretty much just some rambling that isaac does somewhere near the end, so..yeah..if anyone cares to know all of that.. |

"cant get that engine turned over" is right i think..this is hands-down my favorite modest mouse song it also happens to be the first one i had ever heard(back before the "Float On" crowd started paying them attention)...whenever school is too much stress, its easy to spend over an hour playing this song on guitar to ease your nerves...its just so good... |

~,^ dont think this is on any albums, it is a funny song though, it reminds me of a guy at my school that...well..still hangs out at high school after graduation..its kinda sad...it may be an early version, for instance there is a live recording of modest mouse that was titled "Jamming", but you can very well make out the birth of Digging Holes in Water, so you might be right.. |

long song...Beta Carotene was an ingredient on the back of some food i was eating, dunno what it is, im no chemist..yeah, it isnt on any cds, and probably never will be, its just a live version i think..nice guitar sound though..i think i got this off of the Knerd website for Modest Mouse, they have taken off the mp3's since my last visit, and that might have been the only place to get it..sorry |

Great song, kinda hard to play on guitar...if you dont cheat >> ...I was listening to some random talk from Isaac from an Ugly Casanova concert(wrong band, i know) and someone in the audience asked him to play Dukes Up, and Isaac replied with "I would'nt even play that in the band it was written for"...i found it funny, im probably alone on that though...i dont guess theres much of a chance for them to start dishing out some oldies then.. |

are these lyrics correct? I'm pretty sure this is from the Dial-a-Song thing Isaac had going(hence the "lo-fi"), something about if you called his machine you would get a song he recorded on there, there are others from there too..it is on the cd Sad Sappy Sucker, which i do not recomend if you are a casual Modest Mouse fan, its a collection of the band in it's earliest and most raw form, good cd too..havent a clue what the song is about...kinda like all of Isaac's random songs..i assume he must have grown up in a trailer park becuase of the references in this song, and in "Trailer Trash"(The Lonesome, Crowded West)...this song also gets stuck in my head alot, its not exactly brilliant...but I like it |

it seems to me that he is saying that things are looking up and looking better "grasslooks much greener" , but they arent really and are still the same problems as before , "but it's green-painted cement "and he uses medication to forget about his problems "you can't make dirt clean so we'll just lemon-scent it"
