Well, i'd like to start off saying that i am a christian. I thought i'd let you all know considering a great deal of the posts on this song seem to revolve around the subect, however irrelivent it is to the arguments. Anyways, these are my thoughts about MM: First and formost i think that Manson is a genius. A good deal of his lyrics have many philisophical elements within them. The man knows how to attract a HUGE following through contriversy. Lets face it people, everyone on this green earth craves beliefs that push the 'envelope', so to speak, whether the belief is relative to our lives or not. I think thats why it is so easy for people to start listening and sometimes believing in what Manson has to say. Secondly, i admire Manson as a musician. It takes guts, no matter who you are, to share your beliefs with those around you. True, i may not listen to Manson often, but when i do i can artistically say that, he knows, to an extent, how to compose music that can dredge up emotions in a way that is convincing and interesting. My last point is that i dont agree with Mansons actions or beliefs, however, I dont believe that hes all evil either. I dont think its right that he encourages people to become like him, but on the other hand, it's up to the individual themselves on whether to take Mansons ideas to the extreme. Well, there you have it, my thoughts on MM. Now the song: I think this song really shows how much knowledge Manson really possess when it comes the Bibles info on the coming of the Anti-Christ. I also think that Manson is refering to himself within the first 4 lines of the song. Manson could be saying that he is the result of those around him, his childhood and upbringing. Or, that all the strange things he does, are the result of the media and how they portray him. Perhaps he feels misunderstood and in turn he has started imulating his media skewed self because thats what the media wants. 'I shed the skin to feed the fake' could be a reference to how he is continuing with his bahavor to 'feed' those who have nothing else to do but to bring him down. He's come to think of their life source, since they depend so much on his freakish acts. 'REPENT" i think is meant in a mocking manner towards Christians who continously preach at him. 'Who's mistake am i anyways?' seems to be a nod to what i said before, about either the media or childhood creating what he is today. The part about cutting the head off i think is quite clear. Someone said in an earlier post that it meant if you cut something back it will return with a new fierceness, what MM has done with all his negative media. 'hydra' was a mytholic monster, and Manson wants to become that monster. The last few lines of the song are signs of the end days and are found in the Bible. Perhaps Manson believes that he has played a part in the coming of the last days. Anyway i know that this is long, but its what i think. If anyone has any idea as to what 'now you'll see your star/prick your finger it is done' means, let me know. |

ok first of all they went mainstream..GET OVER IT! alot of bands have gone mainstream over the years and have been alright(most of them anyways..) and if you cant accept that then your no better of a fan then the \"newbies\"(and yes i am a newbie but im not like \"oH mY gAwD i LoVe ThE uSeD sO mUcH!\" i respect their music and i wanna hear more of it..so..THERE! hahaha) secondly if you dont know what the song means already..then try reading the past 3 pages! it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that out... thirdly i agree with TheTorrentsOfSpring. so far its the only explanitory post thats made sense. haha i used explanitory in a sentence...hahaha anywho im out! ::peace:: |

ya how did this turn into "lets hate canadians because of this band??"...i dont even see why your all posting in here if you dont even like the band....i dont go and post stuff in 50 cents part of the site because I DONT LIKE HIM...i respect him and the ppl who do listen to him though because it's there choice to listen to him...and when it comes down ya gotta give somebody credits for actually making it in the music indistry...differant ppl like differant things 2. sell out is a sad excuse to just stop listening to a band...if you like the music then listen to it..if it doesnt fit in with the "punk" music then fine...who cares?!..its music...music is about having fun and expressing yourself..trust me i know... 3 this about saying what you think about the band....not how many arguements you can have about which is better:punk or emo!?...i mean grow up kids! 4: in my mind this song is about being differant. its about somebody who doesnt fit in with all the differant ppl at school..but doesnt really care...theyre having a good time..so let them..personaly this isnt my favorite song by sum because it is slightly over-played..but meh i own chuck and does this look infected and theyre pretty awesome 5 if anybody starts about how i dont listen to anything better...just dont waste your time bcuz i do....im a HUGH fan of iron maiden, anti-flag, the clash, and many others...i also listen to a wide verity or music...such as rock and classical..which is ok!!!!! thank you for listening to me rant:D peace! |

hey pplz..first time here...lol...newayz..i have some thoughts that i would just love to share with u all:P 1)Yellowcard is NOT a sell out...if u where in a band for.lets say 3 years..and u had the chance to b on MTV..u would automaticly say yes..who wouldnt?! 2)for all those pplz out there who bash the violin....u suck...i happen to play the violin..and it is a very hard thing to do...lol...and its nice to hear it played in something other then classical or country! 3)the meaning of the song...well..its pretty obvious...so i wont bother typing it! thank u all for listening to me.....haha..in out! |
