I would like to hear anyone's ideas on why he say 'Branded a Jonah'. Cause ya, I'm stomped. Jonah wasn't a heretic. Maybe it's cause Jonah didn't follow God's plan at first in the bible, but then again he was a prophet. eh, whatever. Ya, they also totally burn the crap out of him... 'Pale touch, writhing in the embers', 'Seared and beaten, banished from where I was born'. I still don't really know if he actually did something to be considered a heretic, or if it was just because who he was. He says 'Wearing my deathmask at birth'. Any ideas? |

I don't know, but the part about 'handcarved death in stone laiden aisles', sounds like he was purposely being made an example of, as many before him, in strict adherence to the churchs way. But ya, its probley talking about something completely else, cause he didnt die yet. Any help? |

"Deep inside of a parallel universe", as in side by side, as in we are both experincing the same world but different points whatever they may be. stepping into the shoes of another and understnading from their perspective, eventually might make it "harder and harder to tell what came first" (I love this)"Under water where thoughts can breathe easily". what can't you do underwater?? speak. and when we speak we arent exactly taking time to let our thoughts breathe. "Far away you were made in the a sea [unspoken] Just like me". now to my best evaluation. anthony speaks of himself being a sidewinder as in terms of he's explorative into other peoples worlds. just like you meet alot of different kind of people sidewinding. and california is a vast cultural place where people go to make it. thats what he loves about it. "a solar system that fits in your eye, microcosm" going back to the view point. "You could die but you're never dead, spider web" to be in a spider web, youre stuck. being in despair or trapped. you feel dead but you arent. "Take a look at the stars in your head fields of space kid". nice twist on that the stars are just as much in your head as they are out there. the mind being infinite as the universe in fields of space. |

| ok i cant say what this song meanings cause id rather not say anything rather then lead people in the wrong way but i defiantly think everyone has thought alittle too hard on this song. system of a down wouldnt make such an elaborate christianity song when the only thing that would lead you to believe that is the "father" part. i believe its about his brothers death, but havent made all the ties to each lyric, but if youre trying to tie together the peices of a song it should make sense instead of being something that your just like "oh that could be it or it kinda makes since". the whole point of lyrics is that its telling a meaning that corsponds throughtout the song or else it wouldnt have been such a persise wording by system. let us all agree its an awesome song though. | |

| this song is about life and about what isnt life. in it jim is talks about some of the issues of modern day life that drown out the real meaning to life. if you are not awake to everything beyond this life then youre probley not understanding this song really. i cant exactly help enlighten you as much as you should know but it would be relevantly summed up in the first verse of the song. that is that we exist and are beings through life and past life. time and space exist only in life and conscienceness. maybe looking up something on theosophy or so might help you know where this song is coming from. beautifully absolute song. | |

id like to comment on BradNZ's statement. go ahead and read it... the first thing i wanna say is shut the fuck up you stupid douche. you think you know pink floyd so well but your opinion on the subject is shitty. it OBVIOUSLY does have to do with drugs. watch the fucking movie!!!! what happens in it?? pink had injected himself with something (pin prick suggesting herion) and they brought in paramedics to revive him. another suggetion that it was herion is that he couldnt get up and they had to drag him. i mean dude think.... really THINK ABOUT IT. do you really think that Pink Floyd would write a song about how roger had to have a shot for a show. hell fucking no. they are way better then that. ya pink floyd didnt ever get into drug abusing but to say that they didnt smoke pot or do any other drugs is fucking stupid. syd was the only one to take it too far with it. but one of the most obvious things about pink floyd is that they did use drugs. theyre songs seem to only be written on pot if anything, not on LSD. defiantly not saying that they didnt use it though. pink floyd is one of (if not) the best bands ever. but the whole story of the wall has a deep meaning to it. the whole album/movie. and to get the facts straight.... in the movie the reason pink is sick as a child is because he got it from rat the he kept. but dont fucking get on a message board full of people that have enough love for the music to go here and say something and then tell them false stupid fucking statements of your own dimwitted opinion and say its a fact. |

very good comment i believe the theory on drugs, and seems to relate to hillel as "she". that seems to be quite a relation though in the song it is used as the reason why he went to rehab but he didnt really stop till awhile after hillel's death. ????? dam the kiedis. dam that god of lyrics. best ever |

ok dude think about it. maybe its more understanding cause i play music. and i dont mean that offensive and im not putting you down in any way, shape, or form. but the wave he's talking about is the muse. muse is the music. the muse is all music, heard and unheard, played and unplayed. its the ability to connect and decide what to use of the muse which determines who and how a band is. now im not saying that the artist isnt the one to come up with or isnt talented to come up with the music or anything like that. the muse comes from the artist and it is all to the artist what the music is going to be. its a portrayal. but anyways the "wave" is the muse. (which has got to be the best metaphor for it ever. it elaborates on how music consist of waves [1 ex. guitar strings vibrating. blah blah blah] and how music is all linked together. to the muse. *just a little fact -Jim Morrison is the first person to state this theory/belief and was so indepth with it that it pretty much drove him insane to find a way of connecting to it. and that is, what some (me being part) believe drove him to death* but again, the other lyrics to the chorus tell of the lengths and troubles we go through (and the things were learn of through life) which makes the music. and once u get into music and find its beauty and the unspeakable greatness it holds and gives you, its impossible to stop. go ask any guitar player and they will tell you its their life. i have already analyzed just about everything in the song, so please *****if there is anything you would like to discuss about this or any other red hot chili peppers song please tell/ask me****** its so hard to find someone else who actually will sit down and think of what these songs mean, but they are just the best lyrics ever written. i seriously see myself as a "pepperologist" and i just love the band so much cause they are so talented.everyone of them. to the highest degree they could be. once blood and sugar came out they didnt just change but they evolved to a state like no other. but i think the evolved to the biggest step in californication. god i just hope they dont change again because they got so much in their grasp and power right now. it would be the biggest trajedy to let it go. |

ok people. this song is art at art's greatest representation. this song is to me the best song ever. it tells everything of what i have thought about music and art my whole life. ok, look. there is something to music and to life that is more then just brain waves in your head. what gives us the power to feel emotion? its not a brain. its more then that. that same thing is what allows us to feel music. how else could a series of noises be so appealing and liberating. this song speaks of it. its about making, understanding, and feeling music and that other thing that allows us to. it about the muse. i swear i can feel it and so can you. anthony does it all. he knows what im talking about. and Red Hot Chili Peppers is a band like no other. they are all 1 with the music. this song shows it more than any other song though. cant stop the music. cant stop the vibe; the love for it. i think that red hot chili peppers is the most amazing band ever. they stand out with the music. i feel ya Anthony, John, Flea, and Chad. i can feel it! fuck ya! |
