its about the drug problem the band was facing,
they had a period when they almost fell apart cuz of the enormous amount of drugs involved. I saw it on some documentary on MTV. and it makes pretty good sense... that one last shot... a clear reference to drugs.. its about how the lead singer finally gave up on drugs... its amazing... when the moment arrives you finally see the light.. he saw it, he quit. |

I dont really care what its about, it just speaks to me... redundant. i feel like that sometimes.
This song has many meanings, Redundant could mean that one person is redundant in a relationship or that words are redundant. i have no clue but i like it and it can be applied to my life. :) |

but thats my opinion... i think this album can be explained in many different ways, thats why its so beautiful. Every song can be explained as part of the album story line but it can also be applied to whole different situations.. songs like whatsername can also just be explained very personal. that why i like it :) |

i think i figured it out... jesus of suburbia lives in heaven but gets tired of it all then descends to earth in the form of st jimmy to rebel. in the end he kills himself but since jesus CANT die... he ascends back to heaven... hence Homecoming! |

I like both versions but i think the cure should be given credit for writing it... i mean its their song after all. in my opinion its not about who plays it better, because thats just a matter of taste.. its all about who wrote it. I mean writing a song like close to me is probably one of the hardest things to do right? anyway nice song i love it. |
