in response to asshat, i'm a jew myself, and i highly doubt dustin is saying jews are more imperfect than christians. "although we'll never reach perfection, always persist to try" is more of a general statement about being human. i also see how this could be about the holocaust by the lines "every day tear down the walls till cornerstones remain", because walls surrounded the concentration camps that the jews were prisoners in. however, even though this song may have been inspired by the holocaust, i think its purpose is more general. the words can give inspiration to anyone going through any kind of hardship at all. these are some of the strongest, most inspirational words ive ever seen. |

"I have an Amerikan Dream,
but it involves black masks and gasoline,
one day I'll turn these thoughts into screams,
at a world that turned its back down on me"

"guess that's the price I've got to pay to know that i’m alive"- i think this song is about being frustrated over how humans cant achieve perfection. we can only have ideas of perfection but we cant make it into a physical reality. he uses writing a song as an example. |

that big interpretation helped a lot with some things but it seems like he is talking about someone else besides just himself... and if he realizes that he's cured why does he say "tomorrow i'll be you"? |

assuming the song is about 9/11, i think it makes sense that "they" is the terrorists and "we" is the americans. but i dont get the line "they toss paper tigers from their perfect porcelain skylines". anyone know what that means? |

im surprised nobody said what i always thought this song was about. i think its actually a direct attack on people like doctors and medical researchers etc...
"like using an axe to pull a sliver from your skin"- this is explaining the way stuff like aspirin and other anti-biotics work. while they kill the virus, they kill other parts of ur body with it.
"to be at peace would be a sin and surely un-american"- people in the medical industry pretty much dont care how bad medicine really is for u, they just care about living the american dream- making as money as they can, even if its killing the patients. |
