It's actually a song about LSD and not heroin. The line 'just a little pin prick....' refers to when Syd Barret had to have thorazine injections just so he would be straight enough to make the stage. In the intro you can hear someone outside a door saying "Come on time to go....." Also the line "When I was a child I had a fever...." refers to the time most of us have had as children when we run such a fever that we hullucinate. The chorus as well as the verse "My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain, you would not understand
This is not how I am" describes an acid trip brilliantly. |

People if you listened to the late John Bonham you would know the crux of what this song is about. Jimmy Page was on acid when he penned the lyrics in a foreign country (can't remember where) and in essence is about a lady buying physcadelic drugs which was her 'stairway to heaven'. The rest of the song is about her personal physcadelic experience whilst on LSD. |
