| Franz Ferdinand – Take Me Out Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think it sounds more like Camper Van Beetovan and that ilk from the late 80's. As for the meaning, Sofia was shot just a couple seconds before Franz. Its not like he was standing up saying Take me out. :) After escaping a grenade attack earlier that day, he was being hurried out of Sarajevo (or wherever, been a long time). When the car slowed to turn a corner a gunman jumped out and fired two shots. The first hit his wife, who was pregnant, in the stomache. The second hit Franz. The only word he said was "Sofia" as he laid his head down, and died. |

| Its definatly about Jackie Kennedy, climbing on the trunk of the car after JFK was shot, and touching the bits of his brain on the trunk. | |
| Concrete Blonde – Rain Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I think its pretty obvious what this song means.. For me personally I think it was written specifically for me. A recent break up with a girlfriend, a cold november rain, standing on the porch, reflecting back on where I screwed up, and all that jazz. not sure when this song came out, I didn't hear it until recently, but it reminds me of October/november 1994 and a girl named Becky. |

I can't help but think its about drugs. I mean [I watched the world float to the dark Side of the moon ] is most likely a reference to Pink Floyd. Dark side of the moon is pretty much synomymus with druge use. the "You" in is not about his friend, its a personification of the substance. And the thoughts he goes thru while under the influence. He feels strong, weak, self reflection, etc. The if I go crazy, means the withdrawls from it, and he needs his fix "kyrtonite" |

| Placebo – Every You Every Me Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I'm almost convienced its about being on drugs, and dating someone who is on them too. The "Sucker love" is just means you settle for someone who likes heroin as much as you do. OF course, lot of the rhymes and images seems forced, just to make it more poppy (no pun haha), lot of fluff in there, etc. But the core is drug use. And of course, "every you and every me" was most likely added at the end, just as a catchy chorus. |

| Bright Eyes – The Calendar Hung Itself . . . Lyrics | 21 years ago |

***** "And I kissed a girl with a broken jaw that her father gave to her. She had eyes bright enough to burn me, they reminded me of yours. In a story told she was a little girl in a red-rouge, sun-bruised field and there were rows of ripe tomatoes where a secret was concealed. " ***** I don't think the broke jaw, is LITERALLY that, how could have kissed her? I think she was sexual abused by her dad, but he "broke her jaw", meaning her emotons were all fucked up, and she couldn't talk about it. She eventually opened up to him. Also, I think she killed her father. The "tomatoes" is the blood where she shot him. Would tomatoes grow in a sun bruised field? |

*** Worried that you smoke too many cigarettes? Is he coughing now on a bathroom floor? For every speck of tile there's a thousand more you won’t ever see but most hold inside yourself eternally ***** The whole first verse is basically just him comparing himself to his exlovers new boyfriend. The "jab" he gives is that Coner worried she smoked too many cigs, but this new guys smokes like a train, and coughs himself. And for every speck of tile means the differences in the new guy and conor, theres tons more she will have to live with. |

the "Lover is an actress" line, kinda ate at me for a while. When I first heard the song, I didn't know about the Wynoda Rider issue. I still think the line is about what I originally thought: That its a methaphor for the false love, or just going thru the motions of a relationship. I don't know the Ryder story, if he lived with her, then maybe my whole theory of that verse is my whole "change of heart or address" is blown. :( He does mention Arienette. Arienette is a generic name he uses for. Its at least 3 different women. Search for Oberst Coner Arienette and its mentioned in a interview. So maybe in this sone Arienette was Wynona Rider. hmmmm |
