| AFI – Synesthesia Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This is souly my interpretation, but I believe that perhaps this song was written from the songs perspective. Meaning, of course, that whenever the lyrist refers to himself, he is actually refering to himself as the song. For instance, when Davey sings, "common words spoken uniquely," he could mean that the song is being sung in several different voices. After the bridge, Davey sings 'Let me be all of the words echoing comfort.' This could be interpreted to represent the cathartic effect of songwriting. The rest of the song supports this interpretation, but really doesn't provide much evidence for it. I suppose that is the beauty of modern art. |

| In Flames – Dead End Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's pretty obvious- It's about the end of the world. Anyhow, this is a pretty nice song, but the instrumentals pale in comparison to just about every other In Flames songs. Well, then again, so do the lyrics. | |
| Sublime – Pawn Shop Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I always thought it was about shoping at the Pawn Shop, where prices are cheap, but what you buy may have had blood spilled on it. What I mean is that "Not strictly made of stone, please remember that it's flesh and bone" means that the watches and rings in the pawn shop were probably pawned by muggers and theifs. Just a thought. | |
| NOFX – Whoa on the Whoas Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| It's unfair to pick on AFI and the Offspring about whoas. The Misfits used whoas, as did several other bands. Whoas that take up half the song are a bit rediculous, but they can be harmonic. It's ironic that The Offspring's Dexter Holland sang a very long "Whoa" harmony with AFI's Davey havok in "Clove Smoke Carthasis." But, the song was pretty decent anyway, if not a little EMO-ish. | |

This is pretty far out there, but it's an understandable approach. I think this song is about murder, perhaps murder-suicide. I'll do a line by line translation to what gives me these thoughts. "Open wounds in the palms of my hands" He's clenching his fist so hard, he's cutting himself "Festering through infectious time" This wasn't the time to fuck with me, bud. "I feel so faint as my life spills over you" His blood is spilling on this person. He probably feels faint because of an agressive high. "Backstep over glass, as I repent" He's trying to think himself out of it. It's as hard as walking over glass. "I fear I cannot prevent myself from spilling your life all over me." He's losing control. He wants to cover the walls with this person's blood. "I'm so sick, so sick of myself" This is pretty litteral. He's regretting all of his negative feelings. "Mother say you'll pray for me." Again, litteral. He wants help. "I'm premature in my decay" He's already began to wear away. "Shards of glass swimming in my eyes" I agree with Destructo on that one. Tears. "A small voice in the back of my mind that's whispering things I never want to hear" I disagree with Destructo on this one. I think the voice is his conscience making him realize what he has done. "I pray that you won't hesitate, as you watch me degenerate." He might be breaking down now. Regretting what he has done. "To reach into my wounds and extract all of my fear" This may SOUND like he wants help, but I believe it's actually him requesting someone kill him. "My suffocation, asphyxiation. I've been choking on my own blood" I think that this ending line is decourative, and not extremely meaningful to the song. It gives the picture of him suffering. Well, that's what I think. Sorry about doing a line-by-line right after you, Destructo, but I think our opinions are different enough to justify it. *..and in the distance* - WBB |

| AFI – Who Said You Could Touch Me? Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Mark and Kresge were in the band when this was released. It's a vinyl on Very Proud of Ya. | |
| AFI – The Devil Loves You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Is it just me.. or does this song lack a bass line..? Kresge wrote most of the music back then, but I guess this song was written by Mark and Kresge couldn't come up with a line to suit it. It definately sounds good, even without the bass, though. | |
| Tiger Army – ghostfire Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| "Ghostfire" is obviously the pain that someone feels after their heart has been broken. This song is a bit EMOish for me, and I can't seem to stop hearing "Some kind of Hate" by the Misfits when I play this song.. They're pretty similar, in my opinion. Although I prefer the latter. | |
| AFI – Transference Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I meant to say "Nick 13 of the Tiger Army." Whoops. | |
| AFI – Transference Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Wow.. The backup vocals sound a lot like Geoff Kresge of the Tiger Army, don't they? Of course, Geoff does more Danzig style vocals. | |
| AFI – Third Season Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song is about a person being bullied and pushed down. This person waits for the correct circumstances to get revenge. He can't wait until he can laugh upon the person who did him wrong. Autumn is just a metaphore for when Davey is strongest. | |
