Matt Nathanson – Weight of It All Lyrics 20 years ago
To me, this song details a previous relationship that didn't work out, but is also talking about a relationship that is just starting. Even though he wants this new relationship to work out, it looks as though he's still going to end up giving too much to his new significant other.

"show me where the sun comes through the sky" and then i'll show you all of these other wonderful things, but he still isn't getting what he needs . . .

Guster – Rainy Day Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree with b0omur that the lines "I will bite my tongue / Never sing another song again" send chills up my spine as well. As a musician, I understand how much it takes to say that you will either never sing or play another song again. You can tell by the mere inflection in his voice as the song goes on just how angry and fed-up he's feeling. This is, in my opinion, the darkest song by Guster, but also the most beautiful, because its rare to get these guys to completely go with one emotion without turning back.

Norah Jones – One Flight Down Lyrics 21 years ago
I can remember the first time i heard this song. It was featured at the end of an episode of Judging Amy, where one of the characters loses her husband to be. His death affected all of the characters in various ways. But her loss was obviously the most important. At the end of the episode she cuts her hair with this song playing in the background.

To me, this song is about finally realizing what you have in someone; essentially, a song that has always been playing in the background. At first the song is easy to ignore, but eventually the aroma of the music drifts upward until you can't deny it. One can easily run from love, but eventually, the song will catch up with you and you'll be dancing in time to it.

Damien Rice – Lonelily Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is about giving a part of yourself to someone in a relationship. It's not something that you necessarily had to do, but something that the fear of being alone led you to do.

In this relationship, you have to deal with the other person's infidelity. They didn't just cheat with their body, but with their complete heart and soul.

Time has seperated the two parties, but as the distance closes and as you come closer to home, you try to forgive and forget what has happened. It's an endless cycle of having expectations and being let down, but it still beats being lonely.
