| Depeche Mode – Stripped Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think he wants to take his relationship, which was until now essentially just two people having fun, to a new level. Instead of the standard dinner and a movie date he wants to get emotionally naked with her, to have her expose her inner self to him and to bond and to really know her. | |
| Depeche Mode – Home Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| When Martin says "Home" I don't believe he's talking about his real, physical home. He's talking about a state of mind, a relationship or a drug (or getting off of a drug) most likely. Somebody or something makes him feel right, not a stranger. | |

Must be because of lack of competition in the quality DM videos catagory. The greatest songs, the worst videos. The lyrics of the song fit perfectly with the first post, having David sing it makes sense because Martin likes to sing songs that are meaningful to him, this one was for David. And the voice difference, this song definately is much better off because David did sing it. |

| Maroon 5 – Sweetest Goodbye Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
One line that could be interpreted as 'goodbye sex' doesn't sell me. I think the song is more about a girl whom the speaker loves, but runs in to a barrier with her. She either isn't interested enough, or has personal reasons keeping her from saying OK. He is saying that he will always love her, no matter what she does, or where she goes, and with who, although he seems to feel some regret that he can't shake the feeling. ("How does it feel to know you never have to be alone / When you get home") He says it almost sarcastically. He tries to lie to himself while she's gone; that he doesn't feel this way. ("Dream away everyday / Try so hard to disregard / The rhythm of the rain that drops / And coincides with the beating of my heart") To address the lines "Pushing forward and arching back / Bring me closer to heart attack": I think, taking the whole stanza in to account, that she is pushing him to move on while he is reluctant to go, and angry that she wants him to. She is pushing him forward from behind, and he is leaning back, arching his back trying to get some leverage to resist. He's panicking (the heart attack) and then finally, he says "Say goodbye and just fly away / When you come back / I have some things to say" so that he won't have to move on because he won't obstruct her next move at all. He makes an effort to give her a clear conscience. |

| Iris – Lose In Wanting Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| As with most Iris songs, I'd venture that this is about a relationship, one that was ended but not by the speaker. Maybe they kept a friendship, or some sort of relationship (maybe a business one?) and he finds himself falling in to old habbits. Inside his head he constantly has to fight his desire and his fear. Doing nothing is killing him, but doing something and failing could be even worse. The end is especially powerful, "and in your place, no new instructions sent / got no plans for where I'm going / no memory where I've been" Now that she isn't as involved with him, he feels entirely lost and helpless, just continuing forward because thats the way everybody else is going, but not exactly sure of himself. He doesn't even remember how he got here or why things have worked out in such a way. Most importantly, though, is the question of "who will there be waiting when this silence follows" Not only is he asking who he will have to stand beside, but he is scared about who he himself will be when the ordeal passes. | |
