| Margot & the Nuclear So and So's – Skeleton Key Lyrics

I agree with a lot that was said. My favorite part of the song is the idea of the girl being a skeleton key. It's such a good analogy for a girl that trys to fit perfectly to a guy. At the beginning he may have thought the girl WAS something special, but realized she just knew how fake it. Like a key that fits in any lock, or a girl that knows how to be the perfect girl for any guy. She's not actually perfect, she can just fake it. She's nothing special. Just a skeleton key. haha |

I can relate to this song a lot. It's just about breaking up with someone and hearing on the radio a song about having someone, and never wanting to lose them. And just that awful feeling of not wanting anyone but the one you lost. And the line where it says, "like it helps at all when the music dies"...I think that means he hears a song that reminds him of her but it's not like the thought of her goes away just because the song ends. Maybe I'm wrong though..just my interpretation. |

| Nickel Creek – Can't Complain Lyrics

maybe you're right a1recycler, but I see a slightly different meaning.
I see two people that are completely enraptured by eachother, but at the same time completely not ready for a relationship. Two people who are wild and intense, probably young and not ready to settle down. They meet and immediatly fall in love, and the story goes on from there. The beginning lines mark the extremes in the relationship, the happiness and then the downfall. The next part is how they met-she was going to go on a date with his friend and he didn't show up, so they decided to go out instead. The next part seems to be a whirlwind of a weekend. They go into a relationship knowing he can lie, and basically cheat, and therefore she's not allowed to complain when it will inevitably happen. They go on to move in together, and i agree with a1recycler, the best line is "i guess we kidnapped eachothers minds". I see it as more of a love thing though, not a sign of boredomn. They completely captivated eachoether, at least for the time being. Then of course: the demise of the relationship where he does in fact cheat, and the "can't complain" part of the song becomes relevant. They were completely in love and possibly she thought she had been the solution to a once-cheater. But, alas, she was not. And since she was warned-she can't complain. |

| The Rocket Summer – Goodbye Waves and Driveways Lyrics

I love this song. from a band that creates such poppy songs and upbeat tempos, this was a nice change. i thought that after about a minute or two the rest of the instruments would come in, and i could get a pick me up. But the song maintains it's feeling of frustration. This song sets itself apart from others, in my mind, because of that heartwrenching ending. In all rocket summer you get the idea that the confidence of bryce is unfaltering. even when he's singing of bad times, it has a quirky good outlook. (ie: mean thoughts and cheap shots). it reminds me so much of dashboard. raw and uninhibited, and yet friendly.
Most of all i love how the first line is just walk away, and the song is ended with don't walk away. it's so hard to be in an argument. that sums it up. |

i agree with littlepinkstars..when i first heard it i was wondering who the hell would butcher such a wonderful song..but if you get past the catchyness of the oasis version and realize there's more to a song then a good hook you see the emotion in this version. both versions are good..but for different reasons. it just captured a different light of the song no one noticed because they were too busy singin along |

This song is absolutely beautiful...chris carrabba is amazing. also, i don't know if someone already said this (i didn't read all of the entries) but the line that says "and you wrote the words I love you & sprayed it with perfume" is actually his little sister. While he was playing she came in, wrote I love you and sprayed it with some of her little kid perfume..it's actually not about the long distance lover he talks about in the rest of the song. But, as in all Dashboard songs, the literal meaning of the song is almost minute and unnessecary compared to the feeling the song provokes. |
