Blink-182 – Carousel Lyrics 18 years ago
I like the song and I have nothing to add analysis-wise. I just thought I'd say how funny it is there are posts are recent as late 2006 still debating about whether or not blink-182 is punk. :D It's like, who cares anymore? But I guess even though we all get older there there'll always be that 13-year-old willing to fight to the death to preserve blink-182's punk status.

I think the posts dating all the way back to 2002 for are great posterity and it's fun to wonder where these people are now five years later, their accounts on this website probably long since abandoned. These are probably the kids that I go to college with now.

Blink-182 – Peggy Sue Lyrics 18 years ago
Man, this song instantly takes me back to being fourteen and sulking in my room, mad as hell at the world.
This song was my anthem in middle school.

For me, at least, this song is just about growing up and being anxious, restless, and mad that you can't live your life the way you want to. But you're stuck with you're parents until you get to college and you just gotta grin and bear it. There's no use getting yourself all worked up about it because there's nothing you can do, you might as well laugh at how ridiculous you think their prerogative is. This song is saying, hang on, kid, it gets better, I swear.

when I sing this song I address it to myself. As far as I am concerned, it is about melodrama.

Elliott Smith – L.A. Lyrics 21 years ago
Elliott had stated that himself before.

Anyway, the first line is supposed to be "The gentleman's in the lane"

this song makes me think of "my boy friday" from robinson crusoe. although i know that has nothing to do with it in reality.

Eels – Cancer For The Cure Lyrics 21 years ago
i thought "old blue eyes" was referring to frank sinatra. isn't that his nickname? and then the line "courtney needs love" (which it is, by the way not meets love) is referring to courtney love? *shrug* that's what i've always thought.

poison where'd you hear about that story?

Eels – Elizabeth On The Bathroom Floor Lyrics 21 years ago
i like to think of this song more positively than all of that. the tone of it is really hopeless and depressing but i read that this song is about one of elizabeth's suicide attempts that failed. so although at the time she feels like she can never wake up again she does. granted, she later really does commit suicide but i find it interesting that E chose to write about this particular attempt when it wasn't when she died.
