loads of people listen to him. He's huge, and hardly underrated I think, just slightly obscure, which isn't necessarily a bad thing |

a song of touring and busking. This songs, in my opinion, is a song about the levellers in their early days and the feelings generated during small intimate gigs around the countryside. I think you're wrong to say they mean to change the world. More like they're saying: for a few moments, an hour or two, we, the band and the fans, will share the same emotions and for a while we'lll be able to forget about the rest of the world and "them", and just live in our own little clique |

Or a more genral approach: very few of us are able to choose exactly yhe lives we wish, or are willing to make the necessary sacrifices. This songs just describes some common dreams, and gives hope. |

yeah. Not a hard one to crack. Truth be told, very few of their songs are. I still think they're great though. And I love the bagpipes at the end. |

it's easy to overlook the "deeper" meaning of this song. I did. But I read about it somewhere (think it was the biography). The song could mean something like this: bunch of friends/crusties/youngsters all getting along nicely, and two of them decide to fall in love, sweet as it may seem. But kinda boring for the gang when they decide to celebrate their love in a box for two, locking themselves in their very own lttle house, secluded etc. Easy mistake to make once you've fallen in love, happens all the time. |
