Morrissey – Come Back To Camden Lyrics 20 years ago
Do I detect a hint of suicide or one's mortality there at the end? Not unlike 'Sing me to sleep'

Morrissey – Born To Hang Lyrics 20 years ago
I consider Born to Hang one of those bench-mark Morrissey songs. its never appeared on an actual album or single but it's 'out there' (I came across a promotional copy of it the basement of record store). If you've never heard it, then you are normal and good Morrissey fan. If you own it and listen to it regularly, then you are like me, a bit obssesive and frankly, a little scary.

Morrissey – You're The One For Me, Fatty Lyrics 20 years ago
I remember reading somewhere that "You're the one for me, Fatty" was a quote by a British actress who was married to a very overweight Magician who was also quite famous. He being the fatty, was very insecure that she would leave him and she was often qouted in interviews saying "You're the one for me fatty" to reassure him of her love for him.

She was a kitchen-sink drama actress but I can't remember her name for the life of me...

Morrissey – Will Never Marry Lyrics 20 years ago
In the biography 'Landscapes of the Mind' there is a clip of a Morrissey interview in which he is talking about celibacy and he qoutes the definition of celebicy (paraphrase): "If you look up celibacy, it has nothing to do with sex, it actually has to do with marriage. The definition is 'will never marry.'

Morrissey – Tony The Pony Lyrics 20 years ago
I've always found this song to be a tad strange ending to a very strange album. Tony the Pony was added to the american version of Kill Uncle to move more copies in the US, as the original English version of the album did not include it.

I'm not sure if I agree with your lover analysis, David, but this is a subject that Moz likes, that is the "hooligan with the heart of gold." I actually consider this an early version of "First of the Gang to Die." Both Hector and Tony are clear hooligans who have a penchant for getting themselves into trouble, but here the narrattor plays the part of the good older brother type who is ultimately the type of jerk that says "I told you so"

Still the narator loves Tony (like everyone loves Hector) but in the end not even love can be enough to help Tony out of whatever predicament "drinking with his friends" has finally gotten him to. Probably, a bullet in the gullet, as mentioned in "First"

Morrissey – Best Friend on the Payroll Lyrics 20 years ago
It's actually well documented in several biographies, that this song is about Jake, Morrissey's one time "personal assistant" around the time of 'Vauxhal and I." Like other Morrissey associates Jakes time came and went, and this song was Morrissey's way of telling Jake it was time for him to be on his way. Jake was a scary looking guy who had the letters MOZ tattoes across his six pack as seen on the 'Boxers' single.

Nirvana – Clean Up Before She Comes Lyrics 21 years ago
Actually, this song is a Huddy Ledbetter cover that has nothing to do with Tracy or Kurt--Huddie Ledbetter otherwise known to Nirvana fans as Lead Belly (In The Pines).
