farfronorm, that's along what i was thinking, too. although quite a few of elliott's songs are about drug, this song is so beautiful, from elliott's voice to the gentle melody. it's like finding the pefect relationship, you know? that's a really, really beautiful thing on it's own. when i listen to this song, it makes me think of this unstable couple who had sex, and she still loved him but he broke up with her. maybe he was afraid of someone having feelings for him. then, he 'grew up,' realized what love is, and sadly thinks it's probably too late for anything else to be done. ...if that makes any sense...;) |

that interview is great. i listened to the three-hour program while doing a project on the beatles. ;) thanks for the link. this is my favorite of elliott's songs. it's so...pretty. i can't think of any other words. it's just a lovely song, and both the words and the music leave that impression. it reminds me of a sunny day. |

this is the first of elliott i ever heard, and it's probably the most different of any of his other stuff. aslard, i was thinking about david berkowitz, too. berkowitz and smith both had a really messed up childhoods, and there are parellels in the way that they both were rejected from step-parents and whatnot. creepy connection but it's a cool song nonetheless. |
