Radiohead – Where I End and You Begin. (The Sky Is Falling In.) Lyrics 21 years ago
i can't quite pin down the meaning of this song, but it is by far my favourite song about big dinosaurs and cannibalism.

The Beatles – Yellow Submarine Lyrics 21 years ago
this song is just a soundtrack to the film (the whole of the album was supposed to be, but that's a different story), so you really do have to watch the film to put the song in context. even then it's still just a good, meaningless tune (depending on your own taste). it probably was influenced by the various chemicals the beatles were on at the time, but not specifically about it.

Radiohead – The Gloaming. (Softly Open Our Mouths in the Cold.) Lyrics 21 years ago
I can't remember exactly, but this song was inspired by a drive in the countryside that Thom went on. During the trip, the sun set and this is Thoms take on the general eerieness of the English counrtyside after hours. He seemed to be quite proud of this song in the interview i read, as would i be if i had his genious.

Radiohead – We Suck Young Blood. (Your Time Is Up.) Lyrics 21 years ago
Did anybody see the posters that radiohead put up featuring these lyrics? They had a phone number on the bottom of it making it look like an advert for a Pop Idol style competition. Highly amusing.

Radiohead – 2 + 2 = 5 (The Lukewarm) Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is basically about how public apathy and "manipulation" of the votes let in George W. Bush (or "The Thief") and now that he is in power, all hell will break loose.

e.g. "2+2=5" - vote manipulation
"It is too late now/Beacause/You have not been paying attention" - Voter Apathy
"All hail to the thief" + "It's the devils way now" - Thom's interpretation of Bush's competence and the fact that he doesn't like him.
Plus there are hints that he (or at least someone he knows) has tried to change things and failed - "I swat 'em like flies but like flies the buggers keep coming back" & "I try to sing along/I get it all wrong".
There is also a reference to Thom favourite kids story, Chicken Licken. His favourite due to the fact that it's just a big lie and everybody gets eaten. (Possibly a reference to the naive American public, unwittingly let Bush get in the White House. Who could be a Fox-Lox just waiting to gobble them all up)

Although, this is just an opinion.

Franz Ferdinand – Michael Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is actually about a homosexual called michael (although that may not be his name to keep his identity secret) who lives in glasgow and is very good friends with the band.

Franz Ferdinand are an amazing band, who give a great live performance - if you do like them, check out the early release Darts of Pleasure, the b-sides are pure genious.
