i love how you all missinterprate my words... i said most, not all. i don't think all of the songs are about her, for one thing, ants marching was already made before hand, so that would not make any snese. I'm talking about songs like typical situation, dancing nancies, lover lay down, and #34. I apologies for the usage of "most"

Dave Matthews Band – Typical Situation Lyrics 21 years ago
i don't understand y all of you ppl say that ur such big dave fanatics, when you can't even see the real reson he wrote this. I respect your guesses, but if you knew what happened before he released this song and the album Under The Table and Dreaming, which has typical situation on it. on the album case, it says "in memory of anne" (go look if you don't belive me). Anne is not the girl he holds in his hands on the pic. Anne was his sister that died before the release of this album. i think he wrote this song sarcasticly, almost like in deniel, like its just a typical thing to happen to him that someone so dear to him had died. and then he says everyones happy, eveyones free, meaning that everyone should move on, though so hard, because thats how anne would have wanted it. Manny of the songs on that album has somthing to do w/ his sister anne. listen to most of the songs on the album thinking of losing a loving person so dear to you, and you'll get what i mean.

im sorry, but ill have to dissagree with Gena. i believe this song, and most of the songs on its album Under The Table and Dreaming, were dedicated to dave matthews sister, Anne, who had just died. this song "#34" is called so because she was 34 when she died. I have herd the version w/ lyrics, and it is very clear that it is about a deciesed person. acctually, on the album case, it says in plane print, "in memory of anne."
