it's "crooked pictures in the hall" and "they all know I'd never do you any good" and "Ain't gonna worry..."
the subtitle of this song is the Universal Subconscious. the basic idea is that something like this is going on through the heads of everyone in the world, though they don't all realise it. thinking about such a concept invokes the image of an unusual dream world or a situation like in a dream, where something just isn't normal, and the sounds at the start and the imagery of a crooked house and a long hallway i get from the first few lines just puts you there. this is probably their best song, they sort of killed it by adding the outro into a reprise of Feel Good Hit of the Summer. it needs a music video. |

Tension Head also starts with a lighter.
this song really could mean anything i guess, but the feeling and depth in it (like most lanegan vocals) just scream at me to pull what's probably more meaning than originally intended from the words. it's the idea that someone dependent on you is going to try to take a shot at things themself... but you know (or feel, or hope) they won't be able to make it without your help, and you're angry at them for it, but you decide to let go anyway. "hung" is an expression that can be used to describe stagnation or standstills. the situation we all hate the most is waiting. |

as far as the meaning of millionaire... this song is just raw energy. a friend once suggested to me it was the theme song to every 'B' movie, and that makes sense. if you know the movie's going to be crappy the least you can do is have a good time watching it somehow. even if that means getting drunk, waving capes, shooting guns, or taking hallucinogenic drugs. whenever this song ends you just want more of it. brilliant really. |

the CD specification allows for "empty space" at the start of a track. you can put music on there. its sort of difficult to explain but basically sometimes you'll watch the time display on a cd player and as one track ends and another begins, there's a pause for a few seconds between the songs and the timer displays -0:02, -0:01, 0:00 then the song starts. well that "pause" can be as long as you want it to be and it can contain music. say track 5 on a cd has a few seconds of this 'hidden' music at the start. if you let the cd play from track 4 on to track 5 then you will hear the music in the "minus section". but if you were to go directly to track 5 you wouldn't hear that. well, qotsa did this on songs for the deaf, but for the first track, so you never hear the "minus section" unless you rewind the cd back before the beginning. it doesn't work if you've downloaded the cd, stay legit.
other artists who've used this include NIN and reel big fish. |

I love this song but I'll be damned if it makes that much sense to me, either. The title doesn't help, but so few skunk titles do. Something deep is going on here between what is and what appears to be. It almose seems like something from a movie, a scene where you have a girl screaming at a guy with a guilty secret in front of a group of people whom she believes deserve to know the truth... "tell it like it is! tell them!" The song changes its mood from ominous to violent to soft several times. I just enjoy it for the musical euphony it is. You could go with a lot of theories on this one from what i just said to maybe, a kidnapping victim escaping. Thinking too much about a song ruins it... just listen in awe like the mortal you are ;).
The certain type of person is probably a liar. |

This song is nice but it's nothing terribly difficult to make, anyone with a loop program and some samples can make a similar, or much better song. People like DJ Hahn have fun with arranging that stuff down to the last detail and so they make a career out of it. Awesome, yes, but don't listen to it and think "gee, i could never make something like that". |

At the same time, you can see why there are lots of people who will always hate linkin park... a good part of the fangroup are the type of people who put LP's name in their screen names, and type in obnoxious caps. LP doesn't go for deep meanings, this song is just something to rap about with a theme of "I told you so" expressed in so many rhymes. I like linkin park's music... i'm not sure why... but i can see why people like endos don't. This song in particular is one of those one-note songs, too, which doesn't help. It's fun to listen to if you let yourself go and don't think about anything. |

Not only is this song my anthem on a given day when I'm stuck doing something I don't want to do (which is often)... it rocks. The solos are amazing and the song ends with that feeling of desperation you get when you know what's coming is more boredom or droll work. Billy wrote the line DecemberGuy quoted while waiting in an airport... go figure. |

And yet at the end is a tinge of happiness like two people who can appreciate each other again after an arguement. Of course if you take it all as one running line like I do, the reason you live forever and are forever to be, and to me (yourself) is because you make it so you'll never give into the things you dont want. to make yourself feel better, you simply refuse what you don't want to do or don't want to deal with. it's taking the easy way out when you get all angry at yourself over something. Having problems with depression in my life i've felt this way many times and become lazy as hell afterwards as a result. Reguardless, this has to be one of my favourite pumpkins songs of all time, and the first i ever heard. |

Well this song and the unreleased track "Siamese Dream" form the idea of the whole album... at least the CD art and the title, anyway. The words don't make too much sense, but I'm betting it's a criticism of something in American culture, similar to how Cherub Rock is a criticism of the modern music industry. The verses talk about going and doing wild things, seemingly with a girl... and in each a scenerio where something goes wrong comes up. If we should fail, or not be understood, etc. The solution, sarcastically, is to ignore everyone who opposes you... and then the disappointed disappear... like they were never here. The slow part after the lounge act and the last verse, as well as the diamonds reference, are related to spending. She gave it all away, and in the culture we live in everyone has a disposable income. Americans have problems like that it seems, and it's nothing to be proud of as a country. Gee, we really love the USA. This song was very popular in Japan on tour. |

This song to me, well always seemed like more of a fantasy. Like looking at a girl and wanting to be with her, having this deep inner feeling that you are meant to be together. And at the same time, that union is either not possible or there's a fear present... what if she doesn't feel the same way I do? What if i'm wrong about the whole thing? It's a song of intense desire and simultaneous fear. You have a similar, but nowhere near identical situation going on in the song Creep by Radiohead, where a man sitting in a bar is too much of a coward and unsure of himself to walk up to a woman he sees and falls in love with instantly. The music at the end of this song, as billy sings "who's love?" soft and high is my favourite part... I have yet to figure out the guitar effect that is but it's amazing. A very moving song that for some reason, no one seems to ever have heard. Probably not something you want to listen to before a blind date, either. |

All good things have to come to an end. There were far more references to the end of the band in This Time... including the album art plate for the track which shows the band performing on a pillar above screaming fans. "As the curtain falls we bid you all goodnight." This song is, well i don't know, maybe an outlook on the future. one of the most haunting songs ever, especially in context of this concept album. Shiver-worthy. Also shiver-worthy is the last song of Machina II... |

Cilphex's interpretation is probably the closest to correct. I have an idea if i were to talk to billy about this he would say something similar. Much of this whole album is about fame... the whole album Machina is a concept album following a rockstar named Glass as he goes through situations similar to billy's rock life... throw in a girl and an amazing love song... for example, This Time is the farewell song to fans. This song starts the album off powerful in an attempt to show people what's up. The aura of sound in the choruses, like a choir, is amazing and makes this probably my favourite song off machina. This like much of the album serves as a confession that maybe he was wrong in the past (the rock is dead quote that spawned Adore, an album that was hardly not rock). Many people don't like Machina but this one song should be enough to put it on par with the rest of SP. Right down to the mysterious and beautiful last track, Age of Innocence. |

Dross means waste or the byproduct of smelting. This song is full of opposites in the verses, it's almost like he's gloating over a meaningless victory over something that, with all his faults, he is still better than. |

Weezer has changed but that doesn't make it bad. Blue was amazing and novel, Pink was underrated, Green had ten songs all written with the same layout formula practically, now Maladroit is gone to all hell. Burndt jamb is nice sounding, Space Rock is catchy and December is delving a little ways back into something you might have heard on Pink, maybe. It would be easier if i could figure out what about Blue just makes it so fun to listen to. |

This song was written in 15 minutes... music and words... consider that before you delve too deeply into the lyrics... anything you didn't pull out if it in the first 10 minutes or so after hearing it for the first time, probably wasnt intentional.
