Maroon 5 – Sweetest Goodbye Lyrics 21 years ago
I adore this song, and I must say it took me so long before I realized it was all about goodbye sex (like hannah said). I mean, seiously- "Pushing forward and arching back"? What else is he supposed to be doing, waving goodbye? I am a bit slow.

It's stil lan amazing song with a great beat.

Maroon 5 – Through With You Lyrics 21 years ago
Most of the songs on this CD, especially "Through with You" and "This Love", have very sexual overtones. This is probably because they were all written about the same girl, and the relationship seems to have been heavily reliant on the physical.

Maroon 5 – Harder To Breathe Lyrics 21 years ago
Many people have said that this song sounds more like something cheap or a sell-out type version. That's because it's meant to be that way. Ironically, their first single from "Songs About Jane" is not about Jane. The record company looked over the material they had for the album and was like "you still need a single" and said they had to write a song to be a single. So this song is kind of an angry, lashing out song where they are basically saying, "here's your f***ing song".
However, they obviously put the claustrophobic relationship twist on the song, since I doubt Adam Levine wants his manager to clutch his pillow in a naked sweat. But maybe that's just me.

Maroon 5 – Woman Lyrics 21 years ago
Yes, "Woman" is not on the "Songs About Jane" CD. It's, I'm pretty sure (as Kaykos said), a song from when the band was called "Kara's Flowers". It's really awesome, though, and I recommend everyone download it. It's a much more subdued, but sexy, sound.

As for the meaning behind it, yeah- I assume there's some really hot chick he thinks is the epitome of womanhood...

Something Corporate – Watch the Sky Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is so awesome! I think Andrew even once said it was his favorite song and he was hoping they'd put a version of it on their next album.

Something Corporate – Walking By Lyrics 21 years ago
This song makes me cry when I listen to it, except then I think about how the girl Andrew wrote it for decided to give him a second chance and, as far as I know, they're still together. At that point, I laugh at myself for being so sappy, think "You devil, you" (to Andrew, not to myself), and hope that I can get the guy that's walking by to stop a little as well.

Something Corporate – Wait Lyrics 21 years ago
I think the song is about something deeper than sex, but Josh does have that amazingly interesting tendency of putting a double meaning in *most* of his songs so that it could very well have to do with sex. (Cases in point: "You're Gone" {tie my hands back and make me feel you comnig down} and "I Won't Make You" {scream my name just one more time, but I won't make you}) He obviously really wants to be with a girl, but maybe she doesn't feel ready or she's got a boyfriend- so he's going to wait for her.

Something Corporate – This Broken Heart Lyrics 21 years ago
I love this song so much! It's pretty sad that it's only on the international release of "North". More people should get to hear this, "Watch the Sky", and "Unravel".

Something Corporate – Space Lyrics 21 years ago
I'm pretty sure that this song is about how Josh felt while returning home to his family after touring for so long. He's isolated himself from them while doing his work that now upon his return, he feels bombarded by them and their attention and is getting claustrophia. I think he's having to get used to being around all those people who aren't in Something Corporate, you know?

Something Corporate – She Paints Me Blue Lyrics 21 years ago
Obviously the song is about his girlfriend of two or so years, Kelly (as it says "For Kelly" on the CD). He's basically just telling her how much he loves her and needs her, and how much he misses her. She paints him blue because while he's away, he thinks about how much he wants to be with her- and that saddens him because he can't. The yellow-on-blue simile could have to do with primary colors. Or it could also mean, well- yellow and blue are two somewhat contrasting colors that play off one another. You wouldn't expect them to look good together, but they do. Like those really ghey (I mean...awesome) Abercromie and Old Navy shirts that are dark blue with yellow stripes. Maybe what he's saying is that they are perfect for each other, even though at first glance they seem to be incompatible.

Something Corporate – Ruthless Lyrics 21 years ago
I think it's a song where Andrew wanted to get out his feelings about having to part with the band's manager (who was a good friend of theirs), but deciding to use a metaphor of a failed relationship with a girl. This way more people could relate to it, he could get in one break up song (which he couldn't do otherwise, since he's been with the same girl for the past two years), and he wouldn't have to write a song called "iF U C Brent".

I have no idea how anyone could say "North" was the biggest letdown of 2003. Sure, it takes a lot more to get use to than "Leaving Through the Window", but everything about it is so amazing. The lyrics, the music, the vocals...

Something Corporate – Mulligan Goes To War Lyrics 21 years ago
Yeah, I don't go to that school or anything, but the song is about Andrew's History (I think) teacher, Mr. Mulligan. All I know is he was apparently in the army reserves or whatever, and when the ghey war started one of the students in the class said, "Dude, what if Mulligan goes to war?" Andrew thought that had a nice ring to it and set to work on the song. I didn't know it actually was the teacher's life story. That's pretty cool, though it might be somewhat embarassing for Mr. Mulligan. But, hey, at least he's not Jordan.

Something Corporate – Miss America Lyrics 21 years ago
I'm thinking this song is about being away from home touring, maybe actually being in Amsterdam at the time. "Miss America" could stand for his girlfriend, his family, or even America itself if he's actually out of the country. He misses his beloved and everything about her, and he's afraid the distance is tearing them apart a little. Maybe, if it is about his girlfriend, they had a fight before he left (possibly about the fact that he had to leave) and so now he's "turning over [their] goodbyes".

Something Corporate – Me And The Moon Lyrics 21 years ago
Andrew said that the way he came up with this song was he wrote the music for it first. As he was playing it on his piano, he thought the first line really should be "it's a good year for a murder". The whole song develops to be about a woman who can no longer take her husband's neglect and uncaring attitude towards her. The only way she can get out of this unfeeling void she is trapped in, or so she thinks, is to kill him. The line "Seventeen years and all that he gave was a daughter" is saying, I think, that in all the time when they were together he never did anything for her. He never cared for her, he never really talked to her as an equal, he never loved her, etc.

Something Corporate – Letters To Noelle Lyrics 21 years ago
I'm wondering, did Andrew or Josh write this song? I don't know why I feel it's a Josh song just because of the "I emptied out my veins onto a page" verse.

Yeah, there is supposed to be that extra verse (about soco777). And, Scintilated, I had never thought about the song like that before. It's actually a very interesting point of view. I had always just thought it was a song about his obsession with some girl, and how she kept either ignoring him or turning him down. And now he's not only hurt, but starting to get angry and imagining way to "get back" at her. But in the end, he realizes he just has to get over her.

I wouldn't necessarily say "Letters to Noelle" is second to "Konstantine", but it is my second favorite song after "Konstantine". Is that the same thing?

Something Corporate – If I Die Lyrics 21 years ago
I can't read all these past posts because, well, I'm too lazy. So if this has already been said, I'm sorry. Though this song is rather heartbreaking to me, it was (from what I heard) a "fun" song for Josh to write. It's about his girlfriend cheating on him for two entire years of their relationship. He finds out and realizes he has to break it off with her, because she's hurting him and using him. He wrote this song prior to the break up and I think even used it when he broke up with her.

Ah, I see someone did say it- alas.

Something Corporate – Globes & Maps Lyrics 21 years ago
This song, to me, seems to be going along the same lines as "Walking By" (possibly even about the same girl?). Andrew's deeply in love with a girl, but he feels that she doesn't really care about him. Either's she's not really into the relationship and is on the verge of breaking up with him- or she already has broken up with him. He's trying to let her go because he knows that even if he writes her that letter "from a one-way train", she won't "read it at all".

Something Corporate – I Won't Make You Lyrics 21 years ago
I definitely agree that this song is about mending a broken relationship, or returning to a once failed relationship. However, I still have that tingling urge to sing "I won't rape you" whenever the chorus comes one. Forgive me, Josh, for desecrating your beautiful song... :(

Something Corporate – Forget December Lyrics 21 years ago
Apparently Josh wrote this song about how Christmas is in his family. I think he's kind of angry at them or mocking them because they try to come together and be a loving family, when he knows deep inside that they're just going to go back to their old ways once the day's over. Or I am just ghey and like to make Josh's family out to be psychos *shrug*.

Something Corporate – As You Sleep Lyrics 21 years ago
Well, I'm pretty sure this song is about leaving his girlfriend, Kelly, to go record "North" for a pretty long time. He's stuck in Seattle, Washington while she's (I assume) in Dana Point, California. In this song, which is kind of a lullaby to her, he wants her to know that he's always thinking of her and- even though he can't physically be there for her- he's there for her in spirit and he loves her.

Something Corporate – I Don't Want A Job Lyrics 21 years ago
Actually, for those of you wondering about the non-live version of this song, I do own a studio version. I found it at www.soco-online.net, so if you search around there I'm sure you can find it.

As for what I think the meaning is, I have to agree with not wanting to go to college and wishing to stay in your highschool days with that sweetheart. From a lot his songs, Andrew seems to have a bit of a complex about not going to college- as if it makes him feel somewhat inferior, especially to his current girlfriend. Anyway, I think "I Don't Want A Job" is basically reminiscing on everything he's trying not to let go of before going into the so-called real world.
