Band of Horses – Is There a Ghost Lyrics 18 years ago
He's implying that he CAN'T sleep now by asking if a ghost in my house?

He could sleep when he lived alone
Now he can't sleep and he is questioning why that is (e.g. is there a ghost in my house?)

And whoever was talking about the ghost as a metaphor for past relationships was probably right on that dot

And I don't think a song has to say much (or anything) to be good

Counting Crows – Walkaways Lyrics 20 years ago
it seems like the overriding theme of this song is the only constant in life is change. Also when Duritz sings "this change I been feeling doesn't make the rain fall", i think he is observing the insignificance of personal change. this is all just a guess of course, but it is the way i like to interpret it

Straylight Run – Existentialism on Prom Night Lyrics 21 years ago
The whole concept of existentialism is that God is dead and there is no predestination, therefore we are completely in control of our destiny and you are the sum of your actions. This song takes that concept and relates it to the sense of freedom and complete control during this time in someone's life. Right now I have that exact feeling, about to graduate, knowing my "whole life is laid out right in front of me" etc. It's wonderful how Straylight Run takes a religious/social belief and relates it to a time in life where everyone feels the same.

Thursday – War All The Time Lyrics 21 years ago
Thursday has openly said they do not agree with the war, however this song is about a much more general subject but uses our current "War on terror" as a metaphor. War all the time is about the role conflict plays in all of our lives and how everything we do is about conflict rather than peace. Thursday uses the war our country has engaged in to symbolize this sort of conflict. Oh yeah, check their website, the top toolbar the farthest to the right has a link called "songs" and it is video footage of Geoff talking about what each song on war all the time means to him.
