Sounds kind of like Thom was on shrooms to me. Then again I was on shrooms when I drew that conclusion. |

| Interpol – Obstacle 2 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
iI didn't get to go through the whole thread, but this is what I think the song means. I think the most important lines in this song are "because friends don't waste wine when there's words to sell" and "In my mind this is my free time." To me, this signifies a relationship that is already in the process, however they have decided to take a break (as it sounds, the lead singer decided to make the initiative). "Well you should trust in this girl cause loving is coming our way" makes me think they had a rough bump and he feels this break will help them resolve it. "I'll stand by all this drinking if it helps me through these days" that line basically means he is hurt and self-medicating. Perhaps trying to find a way to understand things, which brings us back to the "wasting wine" comment. Drinking to feel again, drinking to understand... this is my free time to break it all away spend it all today it took time then I found you And he plainly says "break it all away." So through all of this I think it is either a break in a relationship or a sudden breakup and then getting into a new relationship, though I see the connection more with the first. |

| Ani DiFranco – Both Hands Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think "both hands" refers to either putting two hands together and praying -- that someone will not leave, or using both hands as a force -- to stop someone from leaving. Maybe the graffiti on the person's body was a tattoo they got because of their love. She didn't write it on the other person literally, but she was the cause of the tattoo. I doubt that is the real meaning, but you never know. Different objects can cause you to write different things. I paint and sketch on my walls, I think Ani meant that line to be taken in a literal form. So, a couple is basically questioning their relationship. The beginning is about leaving, the middle is about staying and the end is about leaving, then wondering if that was the right thing to do. |

| Hanson – MMMBop Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
My thoughts on Hanson: They were good. Like, seriously, I loved them. In fact, I refused to listen to anything else. Oh, did I mention I was 9 years old? So, yeah. In my opinion, Hanson presented themselves to a younger age group, but took too long to grow up with them, therefore lost their interest. But I have to give them credit for doing their own thing despite what everyone else said they were supposed to do. I admire that. As far as MMMBop goes: Like I said, I was 9 years old. It was cute at the time, back when I imagined my pillow was Isaac (yeah, I was robbin' the grave). But now, it is just shit to me. I agree with many people on here - it would have been much better if it weren't for that poorly thought up chorus. And maybe if the bubbly tone were brought down some. |

| Muse – Time Is Running Out Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| It's a good song. But why did they have to get on the radio? I liked being the only one in town that knew of them. | |
| Radiohead – True Love Waits Lyrics | 21 years ago |

The guy that I love is older than myself, and I am underage. I am forbidden to see him until I am legal. "True Love Waits" So, we're livin' on lollipops and crisps for now. Oh, and I love this song, by the way. |

Sounds like worrying about an abortion to me. Maybe I am not looking beyond the words enough. |

| Obviously, one of my favorite songs. :) And, I don't know about the Gena thing either. I'll go do some research. | |
