| Whatever It Takes – Lips Surrendered Lyrics | 21 years ago |

The lyrics are actually drawn from poems by Emily Dickinson. An introduction about Emily Dickinson, written by Martha Dickinson Bianchi, says this: She [Emily Dickinson] even descends over the brink of the grave to toy with the outworn vesture of the spirit, recapture the dead smile on lips surrendered forever; then, as on the wings of Death, betakes herself and her reader in the direction of the escaping soul to new, incredible heights. Seeing that I haven't read the actual poem in depth, I am unable to discern the entire meaning. |

I am actually really confused about the meaning of this song. At times, it seems like this song is about being strong and not letting someone keep you down, but then it changes tones. When he sings "You can't stop me from crumbling, underneath the weight," I am confused. In one sense, he is strong because you can't stop him, but then again, he is crumbling underneath the weight, so where is his strength? I might be completely missing something, so don't take my word for it. |

| Whatever It Takes – Write For Your Life Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I think the title says a lot. #2 wrote all of these songs and I believe to him, it is his whole life. So, he's writing for his life. The actual song seems to be about a break-up, and learning from that relationship. "It took losing you, to find me." "[...] and I'm happy for you, if you're happy without me." Those two point pretty well to it being about a break-up. "Cause, you live... you learn, and you make your mistakes" That's about learning and growing from everything that happens in life. But there's still pain in breaking up, and writing is his only escape from the pain. It's definately a positive song, not one that looks to bash the other person or drown itself in sorrow. This is a great song. |
