| This song is about Anthony and Flea when the hitchhiked to San Francisco. Everything in the song actually happened to them. A guy picked them up, said his name was Don. Then he pulled over after a while and came back dressed as a woman and said he was Dawn. This is a signifigant song because its one of the few that Flea helped write, he also wrote most of Transcending which is also on One Hot Minute. | |

This song is all about Hillel. The chorus "If you see me getting mighty, if you see me getting high, knock me down, I'm not bigger than life" Reflects their attitudes towards drugs before his death. Hillel's death was a wake up call to them all about how dangerous heroin actually is. The lyrics: don't be afraid to show your friends that you hurt inside inside pain's part of life don't hide behind your false pride it's a lie your lie show that they obviously did drugs for a reason, to hide their own inner feelings. They did drugs to pretend everything was alright with their lives. "too late to tell you how i feel i want you back but i get real" shows that Anthony had some real love for Hillel, they were like brothers. I didn't get to tell him he loves him before he died. "I'm part of you and you're part of me, why did you go away" also shows how much Anthony misses him. Finally "It's so lonely when you don't even know yourself" means that they were basically still growing up around that time, and not really knowing who they were, still trying to find themselves. Anthony suddenly realized how lost he is and he does really need Hillel. |
