this is such a beautiful song. i got the greatest hits cd for christmas and heard the whole song, and it immediately became my favorite. billy corgan is an amazing writer, i wish i had the talent that guy has. this song has the ability to make me smile and sing with it or just feekl like crying, its just one of those songs that does that to me. i think you are all right on the meaning of it, i love the lines
"i wish, i wsh, i could fly, i wish i wish, i could lie." just the way he sings "i could lie" sends shiversw down my spine

i think its about the kind of families in aberdeen where kurt used to live, the families where the men were very macho and redneck. if youve seen the little cartoon that kurt drew of the man pressing his head to his wifes pregnant stomach, hes talking about how it better be a big strong boy, which is a reflection of that macho attitude. i think hes also reflecting on them in this song, because they would have wanted a big strong boy instead of a girl, which those kind of men look down on. this is just my opinion, but i think this song is like the voice of one of those fathers of a daughter, who doesnt want her. as for you fucks who think courtney killed kurt, go to hell. she didnt kill him, and how would any of you know if he loved her or not? you wouldnt. she may not be the best mother, not even a very good person, but they loved each other, you can tell just from some pictures, and knowing from the kind of people they were, they probably wouldnt marry just because of frances. im sure kurt wouldnt appreciate people acusing his wife of killing him. and he didnt wish that frances was a son, he loved her more than anything, but thats just from my point of view, but no matter what, screw off |

this song...it means so much to me, and i don't know why really, except for, Cole. he's one of the outsiders in our town, but i guess i'm an outsider to him as well, but i think it's obviously about someone who ruined or is ruining their life, "you've given in to all these reckless dark desires" they've done the things they before would never dare to do but for some reason dream of doing. crying to yourself again, feeling sorry for yourself, suicidal imbecile, pretty much already described, think about it, think o what youre doing, what'll it take to get it through to you precious, this person is obviously precious to them but can't get them to see what they're doing. why do you wanna throw it all away like this, they were right about you |
