i've always thought that the line "the bomb will bring us together" is about how people will come together in order to do violence, ie war. a country working hard together to create the bomb, which i believe is supposed to be "The Bomb", the atomic bomb, because it symbolizes humankind's drive to war in general. this is damaging of course because people coming together to hurt other people is not unifying overall and thus shows the general fault of war. |

yeah... I agree with Sapphiredemon... kind of about how since everything's owned by the same people, every place ends up being the same. then you could also say that even without being actually the same, they're all from the same motivations and etc., so even before it was all owned by the big companies, it was still the same.... or he could just be singing about traveling. |

a friend inferred that this song was from one of Syd's friends daring him to "write a song with these 100 words in it" also, the version I have has different lyrics... especially at the bottom, no full sentances.. |

I really like this song, especially the version on Opel.... it's really about his inability to understand.. due to his schizopherenia... to connect with a girl.. |

basically, he's talking about how people who are happy forget about the people who are sad... not necessarily materially happy, but of sound mind... as in Syd's case everything kind of relates to his mental problems.. |

yeah.. basically it's about the universe being balanced... for every good thing you do, something bad will happen and vice-versa... and so everything becomes ultimately pointless. so why say anything, and why try do anything? it's no reason to feel sad, obviously, because there's nothing to be sad about... the "price you pay" I guess is the pain of even being at all... because you can feel pain without being sad... ?? maybe.. |

I believe it's about the problems people have connecting. Obviously the example is his relationship with a girl, and he can't understand her or really be close to her. And he really can't find out what's wrong. Science, knowledge technology, the satellite, the apocalypse (falling sky) some people would blame... what are we coming to? but the sad realization is that of the separation between people, that it is final and that's all there is..... and Thom's saying that it's futile to blame technology but still is sad for the death of that illusion.. |
