does anyone have an interpretation on what he means by this?? |

With no power, nothing to do

On the dvd set after the laughter bit he says: 'remember laughter?..it's priceless.' Thats just beautifal and to me, with this he indicates what the song can mean, when you think about it. |

afcourse it's everyone's interpretation, and thats the beauty but there are people out there who claim that they know what LED ZEPPELIN means with the song in exact detail and exactly what THEY wrote it about, like people who know 'for certain' that the song is about Tolkiens stories just because Plant loved those stories. i hate that because we dont have the answer, so lets not pretend we do. let us talk about what the song means to us. |

i can sort of follow the concept of teh song being a reference to tolkiens work but I dont understand how the first verse (about his darling ) fits in there..to me its just about life and its ups and downs.. you experience the world through lying, dreaming, tarvelling, guessing. life is an open road |

To me it comes over as Plant singing about how his life is not run through the will of gods or A god. he is responsible for his own decisions and his own life and thats what the line nobody's fault but mine means to me, it is depressing yet he expresses that he is free and knowone else controles his actions. |

i feel its a mix of mythologies, legends and most of all the experience of Page's and PLants travelling. About a year before this record they went on a trip to I think Africa to try and get inspired. Many claim it is about this inspiring and FREE journey: It was an april morning when they toldus we should go. I smiled to you how could we say no, the fun to have blabla the songs to sing, when we at last return again. |

Plant is saying that wherever you go in life, music keeps strong and influential. There is no world without music. I ahve a version where he sings, ' the song remains the same, but i cant, I cant, yes the song can ' |

Listen up.
Stairway to heaven is NOT written about lord of the rings, no offence but why do people keep bringing this up, just because people love LOTR and Tolkiens stories (like I used to do) doesnt mean that this HAS to be related to it just cause the words match with the story, there were a few songs INSPIRED by LOTR like misty mountain hop. But PLant and PAge wrote this as a way of expressing spiritual perfection, life, death and most of all hope. I know the beauty of the song lies in everyones own interpertation but that doesnt mean that the song is written about frodo and his little ring. Cant anyone respect the song for what it is, the biggest rock and roll number ever, even if people liked it or not. |

I think it shows beautifally where rock came from.. it's what all those old rock and roll bands have in common..its the rock and roll they grew up with and fooled aroudn with.. I think that's cool somehow |

I think the bit where Plant screams out "does anybody remember laughter?" is awesome..he does it when they play it live and I wonder what he means by that exactly..I think it's making people realise that there is much good in the world..or it could just be a simple question |
