This song is brilliant. Not my favourite Brand New song but everysong means something to me in some way. I feel I can really connect with Jesse's lyrics and the band present something which makes stand out. If I had my way, I'd make song lyrics be taught in English Literature classes. "You are calm and reposed Let your beauty unfold How I like the skin stretched over your bones Spring keeps you ever close You are second hand smoke You are so fragile and thin Standing trial for your sins Holding on to yourself the best you can You are the smell before rain You are the blood in my veins" Beauty in the form of words... Someone said something earlier about this song having Coldplay influences and they may well be right (Minwage585). Brand New did an acoustic performance and signing at the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street in London on Monday 17th May 2004 to promote the release of 'The Quiet Things..' over in the UK. I went to see them perform and they played this song so well. The crowd was struck with amazement!...Anyway, back to the point, he ended this song with the last lines of 'Yellow' by Coldplay... 'I came along. I wrote a song for you, and everything that you do.' It totally worked with this song. The last thing he performed was a cover of a song called 'Car' by a band called 'Built to Spill'. It was an amazing show :D I met them that day and it's true...they are all total sweethearts! |
