I think the line about "choking on someone else's blood and the fingerprints of God" is another way of referring to being washed in the blood of Christ. in other words: finding salvation. I also think the rest of the song could possibly be about sharing his testimony with someone. |

I think that in part, this song is saying that the Gospel- that Jesus died for our sins and rose again- is a very simple message, but we struggle to accept it because it doesn't fit our logic, and it's not fancy enough. and despite our ability to understand a great deal of the world through science and reason, we still have to stand in wonder at the power of God. |

you may have a point about lyrics being left out, Childe. it's common for Josh to either slur his screaming together so much that stuff gets left out, or at least appears to be left out. |

yeah, I read that story a few years ago. pretty flipping depressing I have to say. to expand on ames' explanation, Gregor's family flips when he turns into a giant bug and they start treating him very cruelly until he eventually dies of "loneliness". I think the song is quite a witty response to Kafka's theme. I think the fact that it is so short really drives home the simplicity of the song's argument. |

| Showbread – Stabbing Art To Death Lyrics
| 21 years ago

in the original version of this song on the album "Life, Kisses, and Other Wasted Efforts", the second verse is about twice as long. it inlcudes these lines:
No scalpel, pill or stitch,
no religious sales pitch
will ever bring the art that's dying back.
and so we are the heirs,
of this glowing lack of care
our hearts in one discord we all cry out
for blood and spit we clap,
the amps are feeding back
my heart is filled with the one to whom I shout
this song is fairly straightfoward, though I think there is a bit more to it than zanebob has suggested. I think the main focus of the song (especially referring back to the title) is that God gave us art in order to further glorify and worship Him. however, we have warped His gift and used it for our own self glorification and personal gain. I think Josh is crying out the desperate need to destroy the current mode of thinking (that art belongs to us, not God) and return to true worship. |

I agree with ametheamazing; this song is about how destructive gossip, or just speech in general, can be. also, I think the song is saying that such talk can appear elegant and full of truth, but in reality it's nothing but filth. |

I definitely agree that this song is aimed at hypocritical Christians; people who claim Christ as their Lord, but don't live it out at all. "your hands are tied to blind men..." is a way of saying it's the blind leading the blind. |

yeah, this is about a guy (tyler) who stubbornly refuses to accept truth; that Jesus is the water of life. this Biblical metaphor is cleverly adapted for the song. |

| Fear Before – On The Bright Side, She Could Choke Lyrics

actually they posted the lyrics pretty much exactly the way they're written in the cd booklet. I think this song is pretty obviously about a girl who loves to manipulate this guy who's willing to do anything to please her. the harder he tries, the more she tears him down. the singer is hoping that in the end she'll get punished for it. |

I take pictures of the drummer all the time. seriously though, this song is sweet and I think it's talking about bands or artists that have ceased writing any lyrics that mean anything. |

I definitely agree w/ dawnofreckoning. I saw that show and As I Lay Dying destroyed everyone else.
I think he might be talking about the moment when he first gave his life to Christ. and how you simply can't explain in words the power of the Holy Spirit coming into your heart. |

youwithoutme is dead on in my opinion. he's obviously been trying to tell this girl about Christ, but to no avail. look at "we talked about forever and all our other useless words". the girl simply doesn't care, see "it's the devil I suppose, but it doesn't matter much to me". |

it's aaron, not erin. (he's a boy).
I would say this is a little bit about a broken relationship w/ a girl, but I think it's more of how he lost his way w/ God due to the girl. I think he's saying that when we turn away from God, we can't accomplish anything ("I missed what I was supposed to learn"). the only lesson we can learn away from God is that we need Him ("all I learned about was missing you"). |

it should be "don't you tell us about your suffering" not "talk to us about".
I think this song, like many of their songs, is about having a deep regret for a love that has gone. and how even though the girl has tried to move on, she will never be able to forget the time they had together. |

one of the best live bands EVER. how could they not w/ 2 singers?
this is about our culture's and our generation's values being meaningless. we are slowing dying spiritually and we need a wakeup call. |

wow, this general guy is freaking dead on for every song. way to go. I definitely agree that this song is from Christ's perspective. He is so tired of watching people twist His message and use it for their own gain. He died for everyone cause He loves us, not so we could have power over other people. |

yeah, the chariot is freaking sweet. and the new new NJ singer, corey is a lot closer to Josh than Brad, so cheer up...
I totally agree w/ everything MediokrityKills said about the meaning. though I think the "lower your defenses, lower the casket" and "open the door open your grave" lines are both parallels. lowering your defenses around sin is like lowering your own casket, and opening the door to sin is digging your own grave. but yeah, it seems to be about a relationship w/ a girl that caused him to stumble in his faith. |

this song is definitely about lust. read proverbs 30:15. it's like the first line almost verbatim. |
