| Linkin Park – Numb Lyrics

I agree with what most of the people on here have said, it is a good song, about being tired of living up the expectations of mother, father, girlfriend, boyfriend, teacher, etc. I think a lot of people here possibly just have too many issues with their parents, which they will get over with time. And I do agree that Linkin Park is not that great of a band. All of their songs follow a set formula and speak plainly rather than allowing different interpretations of the meanings. That is what makes songs 'good,' being able to view them in different ways, and allowing new audiences to interpret them as they see fit. As I said though, a good song. But as someone else noted, they are somewhat similar to NSync in that they are catering to the present generation by giving them what they want, instead of telling girls how pretty they are or whatnot, they are telling people, as many of you have interpreted it: you're parents are asses, don't do as they say. And with the teenage rebellious thing, that fits perfectly and sells. As I remember one of my friends saying "Linkin Park is hard rock for people who don't like their rock hard." It is not the same as so many other bands because it is catering to pop culture - I mean, they put a damn rapper in their band for that - they sing about this horrible pain that every teenager goes through at one point or another, and they even named their band Linkin Park so their CD's would be located next to Limp Bizkit (who was at the time they started a really popular band). They are persons who are out to make money rather than to make music, than that is why the band sucks. |

Dude, this song is like awesome. I'm a singer, and hope to one day do this one when I can convince the choir director to let me and a couple of my friends. And the meaning is like so pure. I have known you for so long and haven't felt this way in just as long, if not longer. I don't know where this might lead, but despite any consequences that may be, I'm going to follow my heart. Simple as that. |

| Extreme – More Than Words Lyrics

You know, I just find this so sad that some people (won't mention names) are so horribly bitter that they connotate that even beautiful songs like this mean nothing more than "lie down and spread 'em." I mean, not everything in the world is about sex - the song is about actual 'LOVE,' which is something that goes beyond those couple hours that sex lasts - I think the meaning is that if you really love someone, you don't have to say it becuase your actions should speak for themselves, a kiss, a look in the eyes, mearly holding hands can be infinite times more fulfilling than having sex with someone IF you are really in love. Maybe some of the cynical persons that have commented on this should stop finding men who simply want sex and instead seek those that want love (and there are actually a lot of us like that) - your choice in partner eventually determines how the relationship will end. But enough from my soapbox - I just want to say that I think it is a beautiful song and wish some persons the best with their future, hoping they can overcome whatever emotional turmiol they may have or may face. |

| 98 Degrees – The Hardest Thing Lyrics

My take on it is this, becuase I'm actually in this situation. The guy (myself) is in a lasting relationship with someone who he has promised to love forever and everything (longtime girlfriend, fiance, possibly wife). Love (true love that is) just happens though, and he has met his real 'soul mate.' But he can't leave his present girlfriend or anything - he possibly (in my opinion, i don't think he has cause i haven't) had that affair yet, but does love his soulmate. He is telling this girl that he has fallen for head over heals that he does not love her and does not want to be with her becuase he has already made a commitment to someone that doesn't deserve to be hurt. X is my longtime girlfriend, but recently, that magic has been lacking, and during a hard time, i fell in love with Y, who has been my friend for longer than I've known X. I've always loved Y, but just never realized it until recently. X doesn't deserve to be hurt though, so I'm putting aside my own possible happiness to keep her happy. As the song says, another time, another place, maybe another lifetime it would be different. In the end, he (and I) are left telling the girl that we really love goodbye, knowing we will always love her and hoping that fate will eventually bring us together. |

| Bush – Glycerine Lyrics

Glycerine is the stuff used in the sex-lube oils like K-Y or Astroglide. I think that is partially what the song is about - he is still having sex with the girl even though they both don't really love each other anymore (they need the glycerine since neither is emotionally ready for the sex). The guy is in a relationship that he doesn't want anymore, but is stuck in because he is addicted to her and to her sex. And in the end, he is left wondering if it is his own fault that it turned out that way. |
