my interpretation is tinted by my personal life, but here goes: the beginning part...to me, it means the girl is in trouble. i dont know what kind of trouble, but does it matter? her friend is in trouble and anna helps her. when the girl talks about winter not being her season, she means that winter has been bad for her. or hard, at least. the part about the boy...it doesnt mean he's an alcoholic. and i dont think he and the girl are connected. he hits a hard time, but through it all anna knows that he's still a beautiful person. she wants to tell him, but she doesnt know how, so she just writes about it. the general theme is that life is hard. that she sees the people she loves going through all this shit, and she still sees the beauty in them. she knows that everyone sees their loved ones hurting. and its scary to share her story, but she does, because she knows it can help people. |

i think this song is absolutly beautiful. i also agree with the people above me. gender is so rigid when people become adults. if you dont fit your gender's stereotype, people think you're gay or transgeneder or "confused". its so much simpler with little kids. it's okay to climb trees when though you're a little girl (i climbed quite a few in skirts that my mom picked out). i grew up a little like this, surrounded by boys. but it's definately changed for me, which is sad. i miss the days when i was a little boy. |
