Failure – Blank Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is really, really great to listen to on ketamine. I don't know if these guys have ever tried it (hopefully not, it's a terribly stupid drug, that's why they're called K-tards and not K-heads), but Failure is one of the few bands I would want to listen to on K and the line "I'm not looking for reflection, I'm living on the moon" is particularly poignant, especially if you're on K but your drug(s) of choice are more psychedelic in nature.

Tool – Ticks and Leeches Lyrics 21 years ago
I think the song encompasses everything that most of you are saying...yes it's about the music industry, yes it's about us fans who don't create shit ourselves, yes it's about people who take and never give, yes it's about girls, it's about the whole world. Everyone we deal with in our lives places pressures and demands on us, most of our time is taken up dealing with trivial, meaningless things. It's about having to turn in your homework, having to lie on your resume, even having to put gas in your car. Life as we know it today is a never-ending succession of things with no bearing on our Selves which we are expected to do. It's easy to give in to these pressures, to forget about the Good, the True and the Real and to focus on getting by in the world. In doing this we change ourselves and become less human (My blood...turn my compassion black and blue). People who have devoted their lives to feeding the ticks and leeches (which is to say just about everyone) are used to it, take these burdens not as impositions but as responsibilities and gladly give everything they have to give until the day they die. But the singer is different--he can't say that he doesn't give the parasites what they want (who can honestly claim that?) but at least he doesn't pretend to be friends with them, he hopes they fucking choke on all the things they've stolen from him. The whole album has a definite theme of the individual (or the individual bit of existence) casting off the bullshit and stepping forward into the uncertain future. I'm reminded of this theme by the line "take what you want and then go:" taking my broader view of what the song means by "you," the singer is essentially telling the whole world to do its worst and then fuck off, which would of course leave him alone to face existence by himself.

P.S. I know that "the singer" has a name and it's Maynard James Keenan, but I hesitate to talk about Tool's songs as the Word of Maynard as I wouldn't really give him all the credit for Tool's humongous and original contribution to humanity and anyway I hear he's kind of a dick.
