listening to this song recently especially has made me appreciate and understand it more. is that going to school is just doing what they want you to do..growing up and having kids and a family is too
the subjugation is making you GO! and pushing you into these things that might not reflect your dreams "i think me" is an example of how people at that age arent really sure..in this case they arent sure the american dream. It contributes to the fact that dropping out of school can be known to help people and that all school is is repetitive subjugation of random facts when the desire for knowledge should be the education we should have.......... |

this song is about just doing the best you can with what you have rather than being neutral..the whole cheerleading aspect rounds it out..the 1st 2 verses is him making his own and taking someones leftovers..giving him twice as much..the 3rd verse seems to be yet another flipside as he gets had by a filthy bird leaving him as the sucker..the lasting impression is in the breakdown....this song is by far the best on this cd |

all i gathered was musical unity in the theme.. a man..an acoustic guitar...lyrics...and a crowd, which brings together the reasoning for including an acoustic version for the record....it was more geared for that sound when it was written..i dont know for sure but thats my theory |

The song clearly represents people trading their hard earned cash for a better lookin appearance but i also think the "burning on the border like we said that we would", is kind of the southern texas belief (just assuming)....that fat is always just fat no matter how you tuck it in and make it look.. |

this song is what defines the cd and contributes to the reason this is the best record by atd-i,lyric-wise, its engagingly vague, loaded with numerous references that dont make sense unless you can make sense of them,they tend to represent more than their definition... the music is ever winding with clever use of distortion and tight drum beats |

I agree, i think the song speaks alot about his style of writing which is "on the roof of my mouth" and the fact that at that point in his songwriting, he was having a writers block. He is trying to channel his emotions into words through either "dancing in the bathroom stalls" or "kicking in these windows one by one" and the fact that overall, he doesnt want "paper bags hiding infantile music" |

I find symbolizm in the refrain of the 1st verse in that these brutalities were surfacing and it seemed to have an effect on the public "they made sure their obituaries showed pictures of smokestacks", but yet enforcement had no control over the warehouses and it was a repeating occurance anyway......excellent song |
