well said Inviltrist !! it is absolutely clear to me that you have a rational and logical way of thinking. it's a pity that despite all the long way mankind has travelled across time they still believe in the supernatural, although so many clues point against religious beliefs. and in my opinion mankind's progress has been Strongly slowed down because of these childish beliefs. if religion would have been dropped science & technology would have gone a lot further,and we would have discovered facts that we may never find because of religious oppression. I agree to the fact that the man's psyche is the sum of all the things he has learned + genetical inheritance prom his ascendances. if a child is raised in the spirit of believing in a religion and worshiping a certain God he will deny all who challenge his believes, and unless he discovers other oppinions from people outside his religion or who have the power to doubt things unproven, that child will support his religion until his death. Have you ever heard the album 'God Hates Us All' by Slayer ? there are some good ideas in there in songs like 'Darkness of Christ' , 'Disciple' or 'New Faith'. I congragulate atheists for their will to doubt things and see the more obvious aspect of the problem. |

My point of view : the song is a confession from a man who lives in a society where he's misunderstood and where if he tries to think against society's will he becomes a sort of an outcast. They try to send him 'straight' boycotting him blaming him for things that aren't true labeling him 'mentally deranged' . He takes refuge in his own world of dreams 'Sleep my friend and you will see That dream is my reality' he wishes the world would be a better place to be. in his mind he creates a revolution, which is bound to fail . It's a cry for help ,unheard by anyone. Also bears some resemblance to 'The Unforgiven'. |
