| Dashboard Confessional – Don't Wait Lyrics

I tried to make sense of this song, and intuitively, I seem to get an understanding - but I can't find any concrete interpretation of the lyrics. I can see why people interpret the line to "lay the armor down" as symbolic of abandoning the walls and learning to trust someone. For me, I see this song not necessarily about relationships, but about something bigger: about learning to take the chance, exposing yourself, and seizing the moment. The person he's singing to seems to suffer from the lack of vision, because he opens the song telling that they give warnings he doesn't heed because he lost something already, thanks to the night (which I still can't figure out what it is, but that's such a precious part of the song). So he is going to witness whatever is the root of the warning.
For me, this song inspires faith. It's just incredible, so honest his lyrics are. I can't wait to catch them in Toronto on the Canadian tour this summer... |

This song is awesome. And I don't know, while I think there may be some merit to the interpretation of the Dawn of the Dead, I'd rather stick with the take on ending a relationship that is bound to kill you both. It appeals more to human experience; after all, how often do we get run out of town by zombies? |

For once, I am not so hung up on the lyrics, as I am with the sheer musical pull of this song! It's the first AFI song I've ever heard, and I kinda feel like this song "initiated" me ("You are now one of us").
This song is gold. |

Re: "all we are, all we are is bullets, i mean this"
Perhaps the allusion to them being bullets mean that they are deathly, but to each other. The title suggests as much, since their demolition suggests a crash and burn (and again, is alluded to in the reference of fueling the flame). And it's so neat that MCR uses the drum to sound off what sounds like multiple bullets firing.
One other line I just think is great:
"Like a bed of roses there's a dozen reasons in this gun "
What a toxic, beautiful way to die. |

I'm still stunned - I was hoping this song was mislabelled. I love Pedro, but this song blows huge. I better get that off my hard drive before my computer revolts... |

Another good song to listen to if you can relate to this one is "June 18, 1976" by Pedro the Lion. It sort of gives a glimpse of what goes on through the person's mind and the steps that she takes, but her ending is quite different...Warning: Kleenex. Lots of Kleenex. |

Wow, this song generates so much opinion - awesome!
I have no idea what put this guy in the state he's in (altho breakup good candidate), but he's definitely going to check out. The reference to the parkway and waiting for headlights - waiting to get run over. And the reference to the bottle, would suggest gettin in the sauce. But slicing inches from the waist? I'm going out on a limb, but I'm thinking it's substance addiction - the drugs and alcohol are his "campaign of distraction". And in the end, he acknowledges that he was taught better than that (presumably not gettting in the stuff), and that living that kind of life has driven him to kill himself. |

I really like Bright Eyes - but I think this song utterly blows. It just doesn't have the same edge that I like in their other songs. Or maybe it's just cause it alludes to love conquering and all that shit, which annoys the withered brokenhearts like myself. Now, please excuse me while I take cover.... |

I just love hearing this song - and the fact that the lyrics are made up of less than 40 words just pulls out the chords so much better, which is absolutely genius....and much harder, since the listener isn't distracted with reams of words. |

Good on ya, lateralus11, for pointing out a problem with these goddamn boards - now if I could just go over to the Bright Eyes debate and get those whining bitches off their high horses. |

If you think this song is great, and you don't mind going to a deep dark place, listen to "No Lies, Just Love" by Bright Eyes. If that song doesn't knock you on your ass, I'd love to know what would. |

tonight is the first time i've ever heard this song. i love the parallelism that he draws between himself and the flower - how he witnesses the flower's dying and doesn't want others to see him the same. it is heartbreaking and comforting at the same time that i'm not the only one. |
