Caesars – Paper Tigers Lyrics 14 years ago
ThomYorkeGuyGarvey92, I agree. But if it weren't for the iPod commercial, I never would have heard of Caesars. It's great when people explore the whole discography though.

This song instantly chills me out. The tune is amazing, and the lyrics speak to me about how everyone feels like freaks inside, we all have our problems and we try not to show them. But we can all connect with other people through our weaknesses and problems.

Neutral Milk Hotel – Oh Comely Lyrics 16 years ago
Well, on "Live at Aquarius Records", he says something that sounds more like "artery" than "anomie" or "awe to me".

Our Lady Peace – Signs of Life Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm sorry, but the only thing I can say about this song right now is that the melody always reminds me of "Havin Thangs" by Big Mike.

Does this sound like a Mars Volta song to anyone?

Neutral Milk Hotel – Little Birds Lyrics 17 years ago
Well, to me, it sounds like it could either be "I started beating" or "it started beating", as in a still-beating heart ripped out from a chest... but in the context it's hard to tell.

"in his hands he started beating" doesn't really make sense to me at all.

The guitar style on this song is reminiscent of Tarkio.

I always thought it was "traipsed across the continent in a squalor", but I guess they both work.

The Decemberists – Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect Lyrics 17 years ago
"But the angles and the corners
Even though my work is unparalleled
They never seemed to meet
This structure fell about our feet
And we were free to go"

This reminds me of the building metaphors in "The Day I Knew You'd Not Come Back". It seems to employ some word-play around the word "unparalleled"; his architecture is unlike anyone else's, because it's literally not parallel.

It sounds to me like he says "and folks they ain't alright (all right?), but it's alright..."

This song is dripping with emotion. I cried so much that I had to be taken to the hospital for rehydration.

is it "but I guess he changed her mind" or "but I guess you changed her mind" or "but I guess you changed your mind"?

After he sings "I gazed a gazely stare", does anybody hear him messing up the next part?

Our Lady Peace – Clumsy Lyrics 21 years ago
"It's about perspective. At different times of the day you see things differently. It's just about standing back sometimes, trying to really see what's happening and get to the heart of whatever it may be. It's important to be analytical about things. I think sometimes people are a little tempermental or judgemental. Sometimes the energy you have stored up in your body comes out the wrong way and you have to be aware of the things you say to people and the way you view your problems. That's the whole "watching" thing. You can see someone and they might appear to be waving you good-bye and you can walk away and they'll end up drowning; or you can see it from a different perspective and see that they are drowning and they need your help and you need to jump in and save them."
- Raine Maida in Extreme Magazine, issue 16, Spring 1997
