Someone contemplating suicide, or maybe just musing over the inevitablility of death. The person hints that he has been living life for the benefit of others but isn't particularly happy himself. He's realised this and no longer feels obligated to continue this way, but instead of now looking out for #1 he decides that it may be easier to just not live at all. Maybe the prospect of going on bores him so he figures he will just take the plunge to get it over with and see what (if anything) happens next: "i won't wait for answers" + "i wanna take a look on the other side". I'm probably way off here, but it's a good song regardless. |

I think it's about a guy who's never had much faith in humanity and is recalling the time he nontheless attempted to fit in with the dog-eat-dog world of society - "The day I tried to live I wallowed in the blood and mud with All the other pigs". It was never going to work for him but now that's hes tried, he can at least go back to being true to himself with the knowledge that he has confirmed his original suspicions. |

I think this track is about UFOs and possibly alien abductions. Dave once said that one of the songs off the first album referred to UFOs but didn't say which one. If that is the case, I'd say this song is a strong candidate for being the one he was referring to. It would also fit in with the theme behind the name of the band, Foo Fighters were the names given to the unidentifed aircraft that were present during WWII. |
