The Used – Find a Way Lyrics 18 years ago
I think dilemma meant that this is a rip-off of something MCR did, or their style, or just Gerard, or something.

That was my first guess, but, hey, I dunno' XD

And I think you people are insane for saying this is one of the greatest ballads but they can turn around and pull off "brilliant" hardcore efforts. There's not a whole lot that's brilliant about hardcore, and even if there was, The Used is an okay, maybe even good band, but they're not the best, not even close. They can't even put their name in the hat for contendorship.

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics 19 years ago
I like oshaj's interpretation very much so, although I don't recall Freddie ever saying it was autobiographic.

The band admitted that the song had a very personal connection with Freddie, despite Freddie never mentioning so himself (because he preferred people to find their own meaning to Queen songs), so it can't simply be "rhyming nonsese" to go along with the song, and if it is a strange concept story in itself, it has to have a personal story for Freddie to go along with it, and oshaj's seems to be as good a guess as any.

Queen – Death on Two Legs (Dedicated to...) Lyrics 19 years ago
mltm pretty much hit on the head, and even provided a nifty interview clip that all of you should watch.

Of course, most of you will skip over that, so I'll reiterate.

The song was about their former manager, Norman Sheffield, who reportedly mistreated the band, abused his role as manager, withheld money from them, all kinds of terrible things from 1972-75. During live shows, Freddie would commonly say re-dedicate the song to "a real mother-fucker of a gentlemen." But the line was censored on versions that appeared on live albums, because Norman Sheffield persued legal action on counts of defamation.

There you have it, now go watch the video mltm posted for God's sake.

Coheed and Cambria – Always and Never Lyrics 19 years ago
To Pyro, it's pretty common to censor anything that can be considered violent or threatening these days, words like "cut" and "kill" and "brutally rape everything you've ever loved" are censored.

In fact, I think in one version of Willing Well IV, the entire line "I'd crush your face in the door" is censored, so Claudio's like "If I had my way, ----" it's lame. But hey, buy the uncensored version XD

And my testament to this? Their explicit content sticker is due to language AND "Violent Content"

ANYWAY! Did anyone else notice Janiris Sanchez in the song? I swear to God, that is the cutest baby of ALL TIME.

Deftones – Passenger Lyrics 19 years ago
To everyone who says "ROFL ITS ABOUT SEX IN A CAR"

Yeah, have you not gotten the idea yet? Maynard and Chino (Maynard in particular) write lyrics that can be interpreted on a face level and very shallow, but they also have a VERY deep meaning.

Anyway, as for this song, I personally do not think it's about sex in the back of the car. It's about having your life being controlled by someone you trust, and enjoyng the lack of responsibility.

I read in an interview somewhere that Chino and Maynard collaborated on the idea I just expressed, and they basically wrote it in the idea of a car ride.

Think about it. The narrator of the song is quite obviously someone's passenger in a car ride, and they realize they have no control of where they're going, but they love every second of it.

SR-71 – 1985 Lyrics 19 years ago
Taken directly from www.sr-71.net, the offical site of this band: "GREAT NEWS!!! "1985" By now you all know that our song "1985" has been released by another band, Bowling For Soup. Well the great news is that it is BLOWING UP! It's a funny story how this came about. The lead singer and songwriter of BFS , Jaret Reddick, got a hold of "1985" from the new SR-71 CD HERE WE GO AGAIN and loved it and wanted to record it for their new CD, A HANGOVER YOU DON'T DESERVE. We were so flattered that we said hell yeah!"

Way to go, you fuckheads, tease some kid you don't even know for being RIGHT. I hope you're proud of yourself.

A Perfect Circle – Judith Lyrics 21 years ago
I think that this song is written about either Maynard's mom or his sister, probably his mom though, since he said it's about a real person named Judith, and if you notice on the inside of the Thriteenth Step CD, it says that the CD is dedicated to Judith Mary Keenan, hmm, wonder who that could be? At the very least, probably who the song "Judith" is written about, and probably his mom.

My guess would be that Judith is a girl who follows Christianity so blindly that it drives Maynard off the edge, as, him and members of Tool have advocated their distaste for those who believe blindly in the past (yeah, I realize they're different bands, but that's not the point), but yeah, Judith's blind faith probably inspired this song, *shrugs*

And I'm sure that Tool/APC both actually do have one meaning with each of their songs, they just purposely wrote it so poetically that fans would all have their own personal meanings, whether or not it was the actual meaning of the song isn't important, and, yeah *nods*

A Perfect Circle – Pet Lyrics 21 years ago
The first thing that came to my mind from the song was a song about God, I understand that APC and Tool are two different bands, however, Tool has several songs about God and religion in general, thus perhaps Maynard relayed it into an APC song? The thing about the 'count the bodys like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums' could be a reference to the crusades or just a religious person trying to conform others aggressively, and everything else seems to fit perfectly, "I'll protect you from your enemies and your choices son", Tool has a re-occuring theme of how religion destroys all chance of choice and general reason in any one person's life, to quote one of the members, "To be religious is one thing, but to have a religion organized out by others and laid upon you is another.", just, yeah, I think the general theme of the song is God telling one of his followers to be blind and follow him unquestioningly.
