Johnny Lee Harris: I agree with you on everyone is just copying what everyone else is saying because I haven't heard much mention of this song just a bunch of comments of how Tupac is the best rapper ever. Do I agree that he's the best....yes because he was able to rhyme about serious issues such as racism(changes), teen pregnancies(keep ya head up) and still rap about the ghetto lifestyle. But it's not your job to come in here and tell people that their band agon jumpers. In fact it's knowone's job to do that. Also I highly doubt you're part of the westside either. I don't mean to be stereotypical but ususally westsider's don't have very nice grammar and you seem to be an educated young man. Second anyone who would come on here to make a comment and say " your not a westside, I would know I am one " is likely not one either.
Now onto the song! This song is about racism and laziness on the part of the US government. It's about white's being racist to blacks and other ethnic groups, and how the government worries more about foreign affairs then the black populatio in America. |

I always had two kind of thoughts on this song. Number one was how record companies control the musicians. My number 2 thought was that when syd barrett came into the rock scene that he never knew that people wanted to control him so much, hense the name welcome to the machine. |

Well commercial success does indicate how good an album is to an agree, if 24 million copies were sold obviously it was a good album or else 24 million ppl wouldn't have bought it, and i'm not sure about this but i heard pink floyd wasn't really given alot of airtime back then to begin with so it wouldn't have been really overhyped and overrate, if im wrong on the last part correct me |

Somebody comment on this song its simply amazing...i personally think this song is about the treatment of blacks in the 60's, because of the line " saw the people standing 1000 years in chains, somebody said its different now, look its just the same".......this might mean that the black person has always been slaved and when people say there free now-a-days they really arent...i dunno just a thought |
