Incubus – Pantomime Lyrics 21 years ago
Surprising for me, at least. This is better than some of the middle tracks on the album. Had they included it it would have been one of the best tracks.

This song's meaning is right in front of us. No need for interpretation. It's just a tactfully and romantically-worded explanation of one thing humans do best.

A Perfect Circle – The Nurse Who Loved Me (Failure cover) Lyrics 21 years ago
Failure's version is SO much better.
Dunno why they aren't as popular as they should be...

Anyway, knowing Ken Andrews, this song has direct drug connotations.
The verse lyrics are very thick, hard to interpret without a personal story to work off of. I guess the best chance to figure them out is to try and relate to it on our own.
The chorus, however, definitely sounds like a narrarator using a nurse who apparently loves him with intentions of satisfying a drug craving.
Rather Ken Andrews-ish. lol

A Perfect Circle – Judith Lyrics 21 years ago
Styles:
Hate to jump on the bandwagon and yell at you like everyone else, but...

You need God to create a set of morals for you?

Poor, pathetic little creature.

If you're not a Christian, then what are you?
Fairweather fan or something?
Might change when they're not the majority anymore, eh?

This song is about someone much like you, amigo.

... Eh, check that. Just so no one uses that against me, I ... DON'T... hate everything and everything having to do with Republicans.

But that doesn't mean that Republican politicians aren't lying, cheating, dirty, bloodsucking bastards.

.. oops.

Alas! Close-mindedness and homophobia abound!

Why don't we move to Iraq?! Because we wanna fix the mess that that clown you call a president made while he was HERE!
(Sorry, guys, I hate anything and everything having to do with Republicans. I would tear him apart, but for the sake of this forum-like place...)

Dude... you've gotta be kidding me.
The name of their first fucking ALBUM was Fungus Amongus!
SHROOMS, SHROOMS, SHROOMS.
That may be why they wrote a song called Psychopsilocybin, bud...

"liberals are so stupid" ...

I care not to retort instinctively to this phrase, as doing such would simply be sinking to your level.

Instead, I'll just ask all the rest of the intelligent people reading the page to ignore your poor, sad little words.

bgrass, respect and all for the Incubus fandom even after disagreeing with their views. But honestly... I fail to understand why people continue to support our President when he's screwed so many things up. Please, go research your opinions before you become a shining example of why we're the most hated country on planet earth right now.

Anyway... I like AmericanDeagle's comparison to the Truman Show.
Guys, there seems to be a few of us that still thing this song's a Bush-basher... it has nothing to do with Bush. Get it through your pea-sized lumps that you call brains.

Incubus – Priceless Lyrics 21 years ago
It seems to me that it's a song about getting what comes to you.
"Eel-infested oceans"... "Water, water, everywhere, and every chance to sink!"...

Both allusions to "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner", an 18th-century poem about a seafarer that kills an innocent albatross and repents for his sins with his crew's instant death and loneliness on a sea infested with serpents. Eels. Yeah.

Make the connection, that's an easy one.

I'm not too sure how accurate FriendlyAlien's idea was, but I really like the notion of "God abandoning us".
Ponder that, instead of the typical notion of it being about a person.
May still be about Dirk, but...
I think the god's abandonment idea is the best thing I've heard yet.

Saying that THIS song is about weed would be pushing it. It's pretty self-explanatory, not much to say here.

Incubus – Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song) Lyrics 21 years ago
Eeeh...

It could go either way.

However, knowing Brandon, it's a ganja song. It's too damn obvious. =P

But hey... if you interpreted it as a love song, don't let that stop you. Brandon sees it one way, you see it yours. As long as the lyrics are this ambiguous, that will usually be the case.

Incubus – Talk Shows on Mute Lyrics 21 years ago
Good lord, children, I said it once, I'll say it again -

TALK SHOWS ON MUTE IS NOT ABOUT PRESIDENT BUSH IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM.

Thanks to Fiora's masterpiece of a music video, it's quite clear that the comparisons to Orwell's work are more than the point here. Animal Farm, anybody?

"The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again but already it was impossible to say which was which."

^ A quote from Animal Farm to further solidify my point, in comparison with the music video.
About 3:15-3:20 into the video, the visual depicts a being transmutating back and forth between a human and beast. The spectators' reaction and the lyrics of the song clearly come together, along with other evidence throughout the video.

People have said it before. It's about American (and, fine, European as well, if you insist) society and its mindlessness.

Furthermore, you're an absolute imbecile if you think Bush is "a very good president".
I needn't put up my arguments, the results are already right in front of your nose.
If you really NEED to take the grand tour of the Bush Administration's warpath of destruction in both the middle east and in America, make sure you watch Fahrenheit 9/11 when it's released.
And the reason we don't move from this country is simple. If we want it to change, will moving out help? No, you smacktard, it won't. Just because we don't like a President doesn't make us unpatriotic. I love my country. I loathe the guy running it.
And for the record...
He wasn't even "voted in fairly". Cheating bastard.
When he loses the election this year, we'll all find out just why Kerry can and will outdo Bush in office easily.

... Eh. Sorry. Political tyrade. Anyway, yeah, the song. Right.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Otherside Lyrics 21 years ago
I have nothing wrong with gay/bisexual people or the principle of it, I'm a rather liberal thinker, but just because a song says "I've got to take it on the other side" doesn't mean it's about homosexuality, ya smacktards.
I don't even understand how ANYONE could look at this and say "hmm, a drug song..."

I agree with the point that this song implied the death of a relationship. I also kind of see in the song the inability to let go of something that's been twisting your state of mind into knots for an extended period of time.
Perhaps it's a huge SPLICING of all these ideas? Maybe Anthony is writing about the fact that he ruined a relationship and the thoughts of it won't leave him alone... thus, he's having suicidal contemplations? It just makes sense if you tie in all the things everyone's already stated.

Incubus – A Crow Left of the Murder Lyrics 21 years ago
Two things:
Dirk did not suck. Dirk was an incredible bassist, whether you like him or not.
Everyone needs to realize that the entire album of A Crow Left of the Murder is NOT about Dirk, damn it. I look at like every board here, and see "Hey, isn't this about Dirk?!" and want to KILL MYSELF.
Leech, maybe. SSLW, maybe. That's IT.

Anyway, the song's an easy intepretation. And very kickass.

Incubus – Hilikus Lyrics 21 years ago
For a long time, I was a straightedge. And during that time, I had no idea what the hell a hilikus was. And there then came a time in which I rocked the ganja for the very first time.
After my third hit, I looked at my friend and gasped...
"Oh my god."
"what?..."
"Hilikus... high-like-us...!... HOLY FUCKING SHIT."

The rest is history.

Incubus – Deep Inside Lyrics 21 years ago
Schr4nz, my friend, respect for not giving in to the urge. But you're sadly mistaken, this is pure pot-induced hysteria.
It's pretty blatant. In fact, overly blatant. Boyd's new lyrics don't represent anything drug-like, but he was different a long time ago. He didn't search around for hidden meanings and unclear language, he wrote. And it was often about being absolutley ripped off his ass. Exhibit A: Deep Inside.

The best song by Incubus that isn't Sick, Sad Little World.

Anti-war, all the way.

I needn't say a thing, the lyrics speak for themselves.

Incubus – Here In My Room Lyrics 21 years ago
Maybe it's a metaphor for how sex can be a manifestation of love in itself? Lol... I dunno, I read the lyrics and I was like "okay, bud, enough with the porn"... But knowing Boyd he's got something up his sleeve for the song. It's too saucy to just be about sex. Oh well. It's still a hell of a song.

Yay for drug-induced funk metal.

Fuck yeah.
Axiom, I dunno, man - the new album has me thinking Mike is a mainstream player unmatched.

Not to say he has a prayer against someone like Petrucci, so I wouldn't use the term "modern".

Sorry, old-school fans, I love SCIENCE as much as the next guy, but this is the best Incubus track in existence.

I see the Dirk Lance connatations. If it is about Alex, then I see what Brandon meant. He wrote a lot of the songs on this album on a personal level for himself but ambiguously enough (if that's a fitting word) so that other people can relate to his words.
Oustanding work, indeed.

No, I completely disagree. Megalomaniac is Brandon's only slap in the face to Bush on the entire album.
This song is a metaphorical beatdown to society itself. A "commentary on society" is exactly what it is.

There is no paranoia here, they aren't afraid of a president. Have you ever listened to "Just A Phase"? Boyd's COMFORT is temporaryism.

Ignore that the line "The foundation is canyoning" sounds so apocalyptic and look at the rest of the song. Brandon is making fun of stereotypical American slobs. That's all there is to it.
Watch the video.
