Everything in this song about Courtney is true and I still love her. She is a bitch and probably could be considered a whore as well...what of it? People find her threatening or they wouldn't be so inclined to mouth off about her and try to put her in "her place". More power to her. |

All the talk of them selling out is static to my ears. If you are a long time fan and feel betrayed that they took a turn in their style and became more mainstream there's nothing wrong with how you feel but why waste your time and bitch and moan? Move on. That being said, I'm not a long time fan and I find this album fantastic. I don't even listen to mainstream radio and my favorite artists happens to be Ani DiFranco. Coming from a mainly indie interest background I can sit back and say this song and album in general is good, fun rock music. That's it. Just enjoy it...or not. Whatever the case you whining about them selling out is tired. |

This is total speculation and I'm practically pulling this out of my ass but I get the impression that her non-stop touring and her deep involvement with her work as a musician was a major problem within her marriage (among other things, I'm sure). I just get the feeling from various songs on this album and Educated Guess. Anyway, back to this song and my point.... It seems he cheated and she got blamed for it in a sense: course you're the kind of guy who doesn't lie he just doctors everything who chooses some unassuming finger and quietly moves his wedding ring who rewrites his autobiography for any pretty girl who will sing but you can't fool the queen baby 'cause i married the king it was i who betrayed his majesty with no opposite reality like a pond with no reflection of the sky, o'er the trees but after my dreaded beheading i tied that sucker back on with a string Eh? We'll never know but it's interesting to speculate. Ok, I know I'm supposed to write what it means to me but this is what I think of when I hear it. |
