I was reluctant to listen to any INXS after Michael Hutchence died but I really like this song, it has the true INXS feel.
I think that the meaning is pretty clear |

The reason people are saying alot of the songs from this album are about 9/11 is because the album was made just after 9/11, the events of 9/11 prompted Tom and Travis to do the Box Car Racer project while they still could. People can find whatever meaning they like in this song, but Tom has said that it is about the 9/11 jumpers, and how depressed seeing that made him feel. I for one also see the song this way, and it sparks some very horrific memories for myself personally about 9/11.
I don't see why it's a problem for them to do a song about this? It's not as if they're saying it was a good thing that happened, they are conveying how that particular event made them feel. |

This is a song many young people should really listen to and really take the advice it gives, but sadly most don't, and they suffer un-necessarily |

I think he is saying that he doesn't care what he has to do to be with this person - he will live, fight, obsess, just as long as he can share it with her.
He is going to 'hell and back' over her, and then he is saying all good things come to an end - all that shines turns to rust... |

I heard an interview with the band on the radio here in Melbourne, and funnily enough, they suggested that this song was about them struggling with Ikea furniture. It does seem to be about a guy with his chick but when you look at it in this context it makes a heap of sense.
They could have been joking of course :) |

This is an excellent song... Definately worthy of its place on their greatest hits cd. I think the meaning of it is pretty obvious.. But I could be wrong. I think it is about a girl that was from a bad home (duh) and he wants to take care of her, but she wants to go home because she can't handle the unpredictability. |
