| Counting Crows – Angels of the Silences Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song is about his loss of innocence and the guilt he feels (usually at night when lying in his bed).... Angels of the silences are those moments at night when it's too quiet and you are forced to think and reflect about our " sins "; for Adams and many of us, this is painful. These inner angsts(subconcious and conscious) also manifest themselves in dreams where the angels again appear to further torment us. Guilt is a central theme here -A wickedly spiritual and awesome song!! | |

Not bad McShine.... but I think this is about a Brooklyn street kid in love with a Manhattan gal he sees on the late night train running from Brooklyn to Downtown Manhattan. In fact, he becomes so infatuated with her that he follows her home one night: I know your window and I know it's late I know your stairs and your doorway... However, she's out his league..... \ |

| Tom Petty – Learning to Fly Lyrics | 21 years ago |

This one of my favoriate songs. But does anyone remember the video? filmed in black & white with scenes from the 60's -nuclear explosion, Robert Kennedy shot, and my personal favoriate, the pool boy getting seduced by the rich, vally girl. This kid later seen dressed as a hippie getting high. Mix all that with the lyrics: " And the town lit up, the world got still " " Well the good ol' days may not return And the rocks might melt and the sea may burn " This song speaks of fear that was pervasive during the 60's. The kid in the song gets high or " learns to fly " to escape the stark reality around him (in this case, the nuclear scare and political turmoil that marked the early 60's). Sounds like reading too much in to it? Watch the video, and it's not too far off. |
