Sorry to those of you who feel like this album "sucks" or what-not. I was a huge fan of I Am The Movie, and this album (although not my "favorite") still sounds good to me. But hey what do I know? I'm not an all-knowing indie rock "everything corporate is bad" kid... But I like what I like.
Anyways. The meaning. What I take from it (although not too hard) is the girl is writing a letter to her boyfriend (duh) and is saying how much she loves him and he means all these crazy things to her, but she feels that she wants more than what she is currently doing. He is holding her down, or back, preventing her from going on to be something great. She recognizes this, but still loves him. And has no idea how to tell him this because things are great. I mean really how do you tell someone that you are basically too good for them?
That is my take on it, after listening to it at 3 am. lol |

This song is beyond words. I can barely listen to it. But it explains me so well. My boyfriend and I broke up because he needed time apart...it sucks...
and the funny thing is that....it has been 12 days since i have seen him...but i miss him too death :( |

I always thought that this song was talking about a relationship in which one person has really strong feelings for the other, and the other is just using the other. Even though the person being used can see this, they don't want to lose the person that they really think they love...

I really like this song...
It obviously is talking about looking back on a relationship and seeing the good and bad things about it. And also recognizing that that person taught them many things about love and such. Then it goes on to talk about the new relationship and how in comparison it is much better. Kind of bittersweet if you ask me... |

I think this is my favorite song on Transatlanticism. For some odd reasong the line "the darkest country road" really hits me. Not because of the line itself but how it is slightly louder, and the backround is softer. Maybe it's just me but yes...I loooove! |

Here is what I think the lyrics are...
"we're wrecking" and I'm dry like a drum, when you scream so fine I'll leave. We're stranded, we've got time and trials, measured in miles. We slave for days (and weeks).
and both "perfect lies from a perfect dame." and "perfect eyes will have perfect aim" are correct (the eyes one comes first in the song)
But yea. This is such an amazing song. Just in its simplicity it brings out so many emotions.... |

I love this song. I like a lot of the slower acoustic Brand New songs, and this one kind of reminds me of the No Seatbelt Song, but better! On the cd, the end of this song you can hear Jesse say something after the song is over. I'm not sure what it is but I think it is "Never to see any other wave". So that (if I have been hearing correctly), leads me to believe it is about a relationship gone bad... But really, what song isn't!? Anyway...beautiful song that brings tears to my eyes (maybe it is the accoustic stuff...) |

This song is just amazing. The lyrics are so incredible and Nick puts so much emotion into his music. I think in this song he is talking about being physically involved with someone for the first time. At least that is what I take out of it! |
